Re:Running turbo with no dp or ic pipes
That is what I am going to be running once I get my dp. My IC is on the way from Johnnyracecar.com, as are my pipes and VAFC. I plan to run it for a week or two until I get around to installing the charge side of the system...
I don't see how a turbo would "overspool" from having no dp. The turbine will not spin faster than the exhaust gases exiting the manifold, so what will make it overspool? I understand that the compressor will be slowed down by the air it is forcing, but when the turbo first spins up, it has no pressure on the charge side to slow it down. How would this be different? |
Re:Running turbo with no dp or ic pipes
not because of having no dp, but from no charge pipes....the wastegate will never open since there will never be any boost, thus, the turbo spins like a mofo trying to make boost

Re:Running turbo with no dp or ic pipes
Well, I ran it over to the muffler shop, no dp, then when the guy told me it was impossible to make a downpipe with the AC compressor so close to the outlet, so I drove it over to a BMW shop, talked with a guy who told me to go to a welding shop and get em to custom make one for me, drove back and forth between the muffler shop two more times... no dp. It was fine, I just took it easy.

I know, the turbo was SO LOUD spinning up! It spooled at idle, sounded like a freakin semi.
