how about some b18 rods/Vitara pistons. That should reach your goal of 230-250 easily.

Does the block need to be notched at all for b18 rods? or do the drop in with the proper bearings and bushing for the piston?

I just got a set of z6 Tunertoys rods for my bro's crx build, they look good for the money. what pistons are you looking to use?

I'm trying to be as cheap but as cost effective as possible. Like I said my goal is 230-250HP. I may use vitara pistons and use tunertoys rods. that seems the best route to go. is there a sponsor on here that sells vitara pistons? I'll go and check again but I don't think I saw one.

there are a couple people who are always selling sets of 4 vitaras on ebay for pretty decent price. and check out tunertoyz on the rods, never heard anything bad about them at all. many many people use this set up on herem. search for vitaras set up and you will see a bunch.

That was the idea, but it doesn't work. Even closed deck sleeved blocks shift sleeves and pop headgaskets. The cure for this is to stop feeding small bore engines so much timing, not posts. :-X

(dumb question most likely) Is there any modification required to use vitara pistons?

notching required for those TT rods? I read awhile back there was supposed to be a model released that didn't require notching.

pretty much any beefier rod (wider) will need the block notched for clearance

if your goal is only 230-250 do you really think it is cost effective to get rods/pistons and filling the block or whatever you were planning on doing? 12psi should be good for 220-230 and the stock pistons/rods should hold if you have a good tune.
