Default Rebuilding TDO5H-14b and oil tapping?

I just picked out a 14b off a 1g DSM GST with 120,000 miles on it. I was planning to rebuild it but was wondering how much rebuilding would cost? Anyone got a cheap place to get rebuilding kits?

The turbo still spins freely and no damage to fins. It doesnt lock or anything... but I just need some advice.

Also, I'm kind of new to this whole build your own turbo thing, and was wondering where you tapped for your oil? the only thing I've seen is the Gold Eagle VTEC conversion where you can get oil directly from where the oil filter is at... any thoughts on this?

Thanks guys!

Cuao just rebuilt his turbo talk to him. and as for the tap u need an adapter a t and other fittings from where the oil pressure sender is above the oil filter. Also to avoid getting flamed use the search a few times or at least read the FAQ before asking questions. Just about anything u can need to know has been discussed and is available here somwhere. good luck with your turbo.

Yea sorry about the oil tapping question... I saw the FAQ after I posted it. Thanks for the help though... I've done searches for rebuild kit and most are around $150-200 or so... just wondering if there are any cheaper ones thats all...

heh, sorry dood, they're just that expensive, and i'd imagine when you see the kit, you'll be as dissapointed as i was. it doesn't seem worth it, until you put it together, then it makes sense why you spent all that cash. heh.

u put it on your car and see if it smokes. if it does first lower oil pressure, if that doesnt work put the rebuild kit in.

fact is when dealing with junkyard turbos u maise well just buy another one bcs the price of the rebuild kit is more then another turbo..
