I am changing my turbo out for a bigger t3/t4. My problem is that the new turbo does not have a threaded spot on it to conect a fitting to run the vac/boost hose from my external wasgate to the turbo.

I think that hose is important cause it reads the amount of boost so the wasegate knows when to open.

I bought a tap and die set cause I thought I could just thread a hole in the turbo. But I don't think it will be that easy. Should I thread the vac/boost fitting in to my charge pipe by the turbo? Any suggestion would help me out. Thanks HMTers.

 

just T off of an existing fitting. the closer to you intake manifold the more acurate your boost gauge will be. same witht the wastegate.

 

Does everyone else agree. My understand is that the lines to the wasegate need to be short so the wasegate can open and close fast.

 

air pressure is air pressure, its instant, if your using a boost controller put the vac line anywhere, it dosent matter, if you dont run the vac line to the intake manifold, that way you will get the right pressure your going for.

 

if you hook a boost gauge up one at the turbo and one after the IC near the throtal boty the one by the turbo will read higher. the IC will lower your boost an so will your charge pipeing. to get the most acurate reading you want to get a source as close to your intake manifold as possible.

If you have a boost controller of some type it really won't matter where you put the vacuum line. I personally have it off the turbo, and if I want more psi I just turn up the wastegate spring on my setup (funky KKK adjustable wastegate :1). Your boost gauge should be hooked up to your intake manifold to get the most accurate reading of manifold pressure. Sure, you get a few psi drop through an intercooler, but I also noticed on my setup when my reference line for the wastegate came off the manifold, I made boost quicker as well Might be alright for a larger turbo setup but mine spools at 2800 as it is
