stage 1 T3 turbine wheels don't belong on T3/T4 turbo's

You probably have a stage 3 or 5 wheel. If you have a stage 3 wheel, then just run it. It will make good power up top. If you want something that spools quicker, try to get that wth a 0.48 A/R turbine housing instead of the 0.63 A/R.

What? Stage 1 simply means it's not a stg 2 or 3 etc...It's just a normal .63 A/R. What are you talking about?

Yes, the GT28 is a ball bearing and it will spool alot faster.

I think that turbo is a good match for your setup. They are a little laggy on a B18 but since you have that extra .2L displacement I bet it will start spooling around 3500-4K. As for your poor liitle B20, I don't think it's going to live very long with that kind of load on it. There's just not alot of meat in those sleeves on that thing. Hope it works well for you, it'll run like a bat for as long as it lives. (Tuning = reliability)

When referring to T3 turbine wheels, the stage# indicates mostly the size of the wheel. It really refers to the trim. Stage also does not refer to the A/R of the turbine housing. T3/T4 turbos normally come with with the stage 3 wheel. A stage 1 wheel is way to small to be useful and is too restrictive. Stage 1 and 2 wheels are OEM types, 3,4,5 are the aftermarket stuff.

Also the GT28RS will spool faster simply because it is a smaller turbo.

a T3 .48 stage 3 turbine is 1 step (one stage) larger than a stage 1 .63 housing on a T3, approximatley. A .48 stage 1 is wayy too small for a T3/T4 but depending on your redline it might work fine. With higher revving engines with alot of power high in the revs, a stage 3 would be practically a must, but if youre staying around 7k or so its not as critical, depending on the power level, that is

There is a stage 2 wheel as well, so that is 2 steps. Again, the A/R has nothing to do with the "stage" of the wheel.

well the redline on a b20 isnt that high...its only 6800 or 7000 rpm....so hopefully this turbo will spool and make me decent power...i keep getting mixed answers saying its too big and wont spool....and other say its fine and that it might be a great turbo for the 2.0 litre set up....

hmmm... solid info. Where were you when i asked how much power my t3/t4 i just bought was capable of? its a .48 ar stage 3 with a .60 ar compressor housing! so its definatly good to 350hp?

should work on your b20... look at me i'm rocking a garrett/airesearch .63/.84(not to sure about the trim...) on my b18b... i barely hit full boost in first at 6k or 6500. but 2nd is at 5k ish. 3rd is like 4500. and my redline is at 7k, lol. i'd be ------- happy if i got this ---- to hit full boost by 5 in 1st, but trust me when it kicks in it KICKS.
