question on low boost small turbo setup
this may sound weird since everyone wants big boost and big power. but i am on a different idea/route.
i think there is a (or a few) factory turbocharged car that run small turbo to give out more power and also to actually improve fuel economy. (i think it was a Volvo or a Saab, forgot)
anyhow it runs off a small turbo, and thus it has no lag at all, and it gives more than enough power for daily drive (over 200whp, i think it was 220hp)
So this is my idea... i know b18b or most b-series can handle 6-7psi of boost on stock internals. so i'd like to know, what small turbo would put out 6-7psi (i know different size's psi output is different, a huge turbo on 6psi is totally different than a small snail on 6psi), and get me to around 200whp?
i read most poeple go to T3/T4 hybrid setup, and this thing i read can easily go up to 300 to 400 whp... but my goal is no where as high as that... so i am wondering if someone can give me some pointer.

I assume that you are worknig with a B16 or B18 motor...
The only problem with the small turbo idea is that these motors have such a wide RPM range. You really do have to pick your poison...
small turbo = spools FAST but cuts off before redline
(VERY noticable)
big turbo = laggy but big top end
I had a T25 on my B16 and it felt great until about 6000 and it would literally just STOP pulling...it would still go but not any faster....kind of hard to explain. If you were racing someone and you were door to door, and you got to 6000 rpm, they would leave you there. (BTW, there are FAR easier ways to make a little more power with a B series than to go turbo...cams, intake, exhaust. etc...)

Does the 14b lose top end like the t25? I had a 20g(5psi) on my stock DOHC ZC and on the top end I would hang with my friends high 12 sec hatch. But from a stop I would get pwned cuz I lacked in the low end.
