Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
hmmm..... thats cool. never thought i would say that abuot a hyundai
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Nice setup. Not really a big fan of the perfect power, but a clean setup nonetheless. :y
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
i like this one.
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
the car looks pretty clean.
Is that a hole on the bumper for the intake? ... and fix the broken exhaust stud :P http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...255_6_full.jpg speeding violation? They have that where your at!?!? A radar detector w/camera, and you get a ticket in the mail? |

This doesn't look very efficient. So you put a 75mm throttle body, but you have to use an adapter that goes down to the ~41mm opening? |

Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Nice clean work, besides that restrictor plate :P
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Proper engine management would be a good start. Megasquirt is your friend.

Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Keep pionting out the Flaw's, constructive Critisim is Gewd >:D
I Know about the Restricter, The Car is much more Resposive with the x2 Bigger Throttle. do you recon if i remove the Restrictor and Port the Intake "Hole" to make the 70mm Throttle i will get more power? MegaSquirt is OTW and imperfect power will be chucked in the bin, the Stand ECU and Airflow meter is Holding this car Back bigtime at 4500rpm the car like Flatlines and the airflow meter is at Max voltage hence cannot make more.(initaites safty mode/limp) with the T2.5 at .9 bar and 1.2 bar and 1.7 she makes 275nm. So i upgraded to a T2.8 and she make 275nm at .9bar & 275 @ 1.2 bar. This car Running temp is like 20% and i have a Huge Cooler so i dont think its that the Turbo is Just blowing hot air/being overboosted So i know need to go stand alone.. and loose the AFM And STanderd ECU(megasquirt is next on my shopping list!) ***and fix the broken exhaust stud ?? Huh? Do you Guys Rekon i should Remove this "HeatShiled"? The Whole in the Bumper is a CIA wich leads upto the Airfilter. Was Reading a Article that Says Airflow is Everything!(Should i rip out the Headlight?) Should i Heat Wrap All my Boost Pipes? as the Aftermarket turbo manifold doesnt have a heatshield? http://www.iformation.co.za/scoupe/edit.jpg |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
i am 100% sure that you will get more power if you port the intake to match the TB. next thing is to get rid of that damn air flow meter and make that thing run on a map sensor. thats the only way to run a boosted car
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
PS my Comp is 7,5-1 and only had the head skimmed once... and our pump gas is 95 octane

Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Rolf. o jah, Its been Fixed Since....
The turbo manifold runs very hot and i dont have a oil cooler, i Cowled the bonnet and the car is tunning a tad cooler but after ive boosted the car the bonnet is so fricken hot! |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
its a hood, bonnets aren't allowed on hmt ;)
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
So the restrictor plate has got to go?
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
interesting set-up.. clean car too

Re: Updated **Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Hey hey all, Was just wondering what the Power band of your turbo's are.
1) mine is not a Uno Turbo /athlough this is the Series turbo's that they use 2) regardless of 14t or 15t i get Roughly the Same Power Figures @.9 bar boost.http://www.speedandsound.co.za/forum...=424284#424284 (3) My airflow meter is Causing Restriction/Flatlines(unlike the UT) @4500rpm Engine light comes on too. 4) No, i dont really need to know what power figures you guys are making, cos i proably already know/blank em out if you wish. Wanna See how Far your guys power bands stretch compare to mine.(Should be better) attached some stats/Printout 5) A/F Ratio are Good on pump feul So is it the car or is it the Turbo, Regards Shaun J (Suspecting its the Car ) Rpm 3000 3500 4000 4500 5000 5500 6000 14T Nm 150 180 235 270 260 250 n/a 15T Nm 160 190 245 285 270 255 n/a http://www.iformation.co.za/scoupe/latest.jpg |

I Spoke to the Guy who created the Reducer and he Said, its already flowing better as when at full throttle the Airflow doesnt see the Butterfly(becuase there is so much airflow) but no piont on going bigger on the reducer now if the intake Ports are still the same size and the cylinder head poryts are the same size NO Bigger power will come... |

Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
i can see what you mean if the parts after the reducer cant flow as much as the reducer, then it makes sence that the engine wont make any more power with a bigger reducer. but im sure if you ported the head and intake im sure you would need to make the reducer bigger
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
What size are the ports.
I bet the total area of the ports are bigger than the area of the 75mm throttle body. The reducer is the choke point. Your turbo is working harder than it should. Good thing you have a dyno to see any difference afterwards. |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
I undestand what the guy means, cant flow more then the smallest link (that being the intake valve/head port). But I'd still like to see more air reach the intake mani plenum.
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Okie took manifold apart the Old TB was 41mm and the HOLE in the Intake/Plenlium IS 54mm but since i put the bigger one on the flow is now 70mm-54mm which ainst so bad as i originally thought as i geussed that the Whole in the Intake/plenium was Also 41mm so is it really such a big restricion?
If u guys recon it is i can Maybee overbour the Hole on the Plenium Chamber to maybee 66mm which doesnt seem much bigger. anymore than that i will have to cut the Studs off...... |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
it doesnt sound liek much, but the overall volume increase is a lot. i would take it as big as you can. if 66mm is your limit then i would go that big and then make your reducer that size also. i bet you will see a difference
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Seems like you used alot of baller parts to reach just 200 HP. I'd step up the size of that turbo from that TD04H if you want more. The intake mani has to go.
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
nice set up man
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
How was the trip so the dyno ST?

megasquirt(MSX) was fitted and dyno tuned on my poor tired engine oil thirsty/puffy engine and we made 225bhp!(170kw 333nm)! |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
I got a little info that may or may not help you out. Get a tiburon throttle body off of a beta 1 engine. You will have to slot the holes slightly inward for the mounting bolts to make it easy but it is perfectly matched sizewise to your intake manifold opening. Thats what Im running... I cant say exactly how much it helped since my head is port and polished but the sizes are exactly the same.
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
How big is the Tiburon TB? 63mm? mine is a 70mm :P
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
I havent a clue how big it is, just know it was perfectly matched to my existing intake manifold ;D
|
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
Just Updating you guys/this post, we have hit 225Bhp and hopefully the water/meth and increased boost will take us to 250bhp and a nice increase in torque. My New dyno printout is here at the bottom https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=82915.0

Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
If you're stock ecu is fuel cutting it's your fault. Clamp the mas sensor voltage right before it triggers your CEL. there are a million ways to do it. i would pickup a cheap MAS sensor and use it to tune the secondary injectors.
how are you wired? sounds like the smt-6 has simply been installed and tuned incorrectly more than anything else. |

Megasquirt is running 100% and making Very Good Power. next chapter Enter the water meth. http://www.iformation.co.za/scoupe/sbi.jpg Here are the Hi Boost Soliniods and activation swicthes http://www.iformation.co.za/scoupe/mbc1.jpg http://www.iformation.co.za/scoupe/mbc2.jpg |
Re: Project 250bhp From 1500cc Hyundai
nice scoupe, there is a guy on 4g61t doing the 4g63t swap in the earlier scoupe.
here's my 89 mirage gt(4g63 swap) http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/HPIM0886.jpg in the next year after i'm done turbo'ing my 97 ex, i'm going to buy an excel and do the 4g63t swap on that. |
