Project 10 second D15

21 Attachment(s)
Well decided to put the VX back together this year after selling the old setup off and stripping it down. Here was the old setup https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=81750.0 ran some 11.6 at 118mph with that and now looking to go tens. Big thanks to dvst8r for the help with the roll bar and other stuff.I decided enough of the B series ---- time to get back to the dirty D :y

92 Civic VX Comp Eng roll bar kit me and Brett [dvst8r] welded in,painted by a old drunk guy in his barn/garage thing :D its stripped inside with a alum dash that cost $60 O0

Motor- D15B vtec 75mm Vitara pistons,FJT rods,Crespo springs and retainers :l, Colt cams regrind,Skank int mani,edelbrock TB

Tranny- stock SI/EX tranny replaced a couple seals and a bearing as well added a OBX diff and a LSD 6puck sprug disc heavy duty pressure plate and 12 lb steel flywheel.

Turbo- Holset HE351CW,Eville140 manifold,CDM 38mm gate,CDM 50mm blow off valve,Peakboost front mount and charge pipes from Urban Indians kit and a white tent 4" mild steel downpipe to CDM SS 3" catback :P

Fuel/Management- ECtune,chipped P28,Hondata 4bar,Precsion 880's,Walbro 255,Aeromotive regulator,LC1 WB and fuel lines half converted to -6

Suspension needs som attention its pretty much stock with Skunk 900lb rear springs will get some shocks, urethne bushing and traction bars this winter.

Pics so far.I cut most of the brake lines out when I stripped it down and was gonna do a tuck etc but then realized im way to lazy for all that bending so i bought a box of Russell Speedflex hose and made SSlines instead way easier way to make brake and clutch lines :6

beautiful build.

Looks like trying to modify that dash will be a bitch though if you ever try and change it with the windshield in. Can you remove those screws without taking the windshield out first?

where did you get the front clip? I'm darn interested in one of those, as well as to see how well your d15 can spool that turbo.

I'm quite aware, i was just interested because i have a z6 bored to 76mm with the same rods and pistion setup as he does. i still haven't decided on a turbo tho

t3 or bigger or bust...im gonna be running a garret .48/.48 on my sohc zc. little small but i want the spool in time for a reason. if anything drop a holset on your motor and nignog setting on the mbc.

Thanks for the ideas i think i will do similar to you as I had not thought of going that way.The 4" would require severe pie cutting and welding to make fit without rotating hte turbo flange on the mani. :6 Also love your build too that setup is gangster :y

Yes to install the screw and drill holes I had to remove the windshield you can work underneath it easy it is completly open but to install it requires the windshield out.

Stock with Prothane inserts they are the best inserts you can get as you get two centers for the drivers side mount a street and a race which is very stiff urethane.Dont touch the Energy Suspension crap get the Prothane they are $100> and stop wheel hop alltogether when combined with urethane control arm bushing.

I got the clip from ebay I believe it was D&H autoparts just search Civic Radiator Core support it should bring up lots.It was about $150 shipped to me in Canada or probably around $100ish shipped in the US.The D15B should be fine it will likely see boost around 45-5000rpm and have full boost by 5500ish I think with the 9cm housing that is on the HE351CW.Those are numbers i just pulled out of my ass but should be around there my LS spooled one at 4000-4500.It has a fairly aggressive regrind on the cam as well as springs and retainers so hopefully it will hold powe up to 8-9000rpm so i can stay in boost when i shift.I need to work on a 86-89 Integra tranny swap this winter that has better gearing as i found one local for cheap.

Thanks for the compliments i like things to look clean even though it does nothing to performance wise.Looking to make at least 400whp with this setup as that should be enough to get into the tens in a 2000lb hatch.

Re: Project 10 second D15

Well made things easier today just ordered a TunerView II Large LCD Dash Kit so I dont have to try to fit the stock cluster in there as this is a daily driven street car so having a speedo, fuel gauge etc is a must.
http://www.hrtuning.com/pages/catego...erview2-lgdash Ordered some new bends to make the downpipe with so hopefully should be easier adapting to 3" right off the vband.

Re: Project 10 second D15

wow, that tunerview was cheaper than i had expected. gettin the dash out saves a good bit of weight. the heater core and controls probably weight 35 lbs alone

I figure i probably lost at least 100-150lbs out of the car by removing the interior, dash, heater stuff and the front and rear impact beams under the bumper.I have added at least that back im sure in turbo stuff, roll bar etc so it should be around stock weight which for a VX is around 2-2100lbs.Tunerview is a great deal really it replaces all the gauges you would buy other then the oil press I suppose and its so much easier then wiring up all those gauges.

Cant wait to see the numbers and how the 9cm housing does on a D, good luck at the dyno :y

There being used for rear skinnies throw some 155/80/13 on at 45psi and you have a super light weight OE skinnie for the rear and i will by painting them to match the Lenso's on the front O0

Sweet. If i trash the B-series in my car im building a D. The Cost is so much cheaper for a 10sec car.

Def.With the vitara setups now you can build a ten second D for pretty cheap.I probably have $2000 in the motor and that inlcuded buying the whole swap from a JDM supplier,FJT package, machine work and the head stuff like cam and retainers.Providing its a reasonably light car 4-450whp should get solid tens no problem if a nog can drive.
