Default possible change of plans

I can't seem to find any 92-95 civic ex's in my area but I found a 88 crx si. Is the D16A6 still a good engine to turbo? Is a mini-me worth it? If I decide to turbo it would tuning be similiar to a d16z6? Should I just hold out until I can find an ex?

I think you'll have more fun with the rex, an A6 is a good motor, mini me is cool too but not really necessary. Pretty much anything that you were going to use/apply to the Z6 would be fine for the A6. plus the car is lighter, and OBD0 (yee hoo turboEDIT)

Which free engine management system do you recommend for a beginning tuner that's running OBD0?
