What were you plans after hs???
Atlast graduation is coming up in like 2 weeks and im finally going to be out of High School. Yet I still have no idea what im going to do. Were any of yall on this board in the same boat as me? It's really confusing like I love cars and all but dont know if I could see myself working on them everyday. Also I dont know if the money would be good enough for me. It's kinda funny my parents think I dont know what I want to do because of pot, but I know or atleast think prolly 80% of the people coming out of High School dont know what theyre going to do. And I barely ever even smoke they assume scince my friends do I automatically do. Suck's having parents that just dont understand. Well everyone tell me what you did right after High Scool

Re:What were you plans after hs???
I wish I could do it ALL over....graduated in 98, parents insisted on college, so I went to college looking to get into Sports medicine...in 99 I caught car fever and started working on cars. so now i'm at a fork in the road...been in school for 4 years now(UMCP..go Terps) and I'm almost done, but I'm bored and annoyed with it. I work for NIH which is pretty much a doorway for me into a good paying job related to my major when I graduate, but I also work at my buddys race shop and I love working on cars, so working there is almost like taking a break from all the madness, its enjoyable. so now I'm stuck between doing something I absolutely love(working on cars) or doing something I thought that I would love(doing spotrs medicine and hopeflly making big bucks)...if I could do it over, I'd have gone to one of the big tech schools or somthing instead and became involved in automotive industry, but after 4 years of college already down, its too late for that...I'll be happy with whatever my college degree brings me(which should be decent indeed), but not as happy as I would be if I was doing what I truly wanted to, but its all good none the less, I'm satisfied.
IMO choose your future wisely...shoot for the big bucks and all, but don't sacrafice happiness for it. and don't let others steer your future.

Get out and get a job a while...
Honestly you need to see what life is like and experience it. Get out and get your own place and live YOUR life a bit, build a car, then look at getting into school when you get a bit older.
When I got out of school (HS) I was kind of the same way, my parents were dead set on me in college, and I could care less. Getting out into the world taught me more about life then 8 years in college. It taught me how crule and how nice the world can be. It taught me to respect EVERYONE's opinion, while at the same time be true to myself.
After you go through with that you get a lot more out of college. In college you really get out what you put in, and if you go to a bigger university with lots of programs, then you really can experience everything and get your money out of it.
Anouther thing to consider, is with student loans, you get more money when you are older, and after 22 the Government gives you a grant for school (My last two years tuition were paid for by Grants)

You might say get out and work for a while, but most of the time, people that do this, do not ever get into the school mode again, and never go back to school. It might be fine while you are young and stuff, working some decent job and making decent money, but then you get older and find yourself without a real career and no money and it won't be fun.
I say just think about it, if you now of something that you like to do, you enjoy it, go ahead and study that. Don't force yourself into studying something else just because they make more money, because you will find out later you don't enjoy your job and end up changing to something else.
I would say if you have the chance or resources to go to college don't waist your time, do it. I did, I'm only 22 with a career in the engineering/surveying field. I make pretty good money for my age and i enjoy it. Most of my friends are unemployed or still working that part time at Mcdonalds or Pizza Hut. Don't make the same mistake.
