Re:Pos cir-clip
It doesn't matter where it is relative to the center section. The wheel should be tightened to exactly the same spot relative to the shaft (and other wheel). You'd need to mark the wheel and shaft so you could line them back up. That way, if you do it right, everything is more or less balanced like it was when it left the factory.

Did you remove the wheel from the shaft or not? I was assuming you did this to clean behind it. If you didn't remove the wheel, you are fine. If you did, you are probably screwed.
Has anyone removed a wheel and put it back without balancing or marking it? Care to share how long the turbo lasted?

Re:Pos cir-clip
I'm no turbo expert neither but if this was that serious (i'm not saying it's not), what would happen if you had a slightly chipped fin (which isn't so uncommon on used turbos). That alone would throw off the ballance on the fins and you'd think the turbo wouldn't be good anymore but people seem to keep using them for long periods...
*shrug* I dunno but I just thought it was a good thing to mention

Re:Pos cir-clip
I'm not either
I just know that it is SUPPOSED to be balanced when it is put together. And at those kinds of speeds, it makes sense. That is why I'd love to hear stories from people who have torn them down and put them back without balancing.
FWIW, those wheels are light, and the fins are extremely thin, meaning any little chip would be negligible, especially since the chips are usually ------ out somewhat across the wheel. One large chip might be another matter. But when it is balanced, the material is taken out of the back of the wheel (at least on the one I've looked at), and there can be quite a bit of material taken out - because it is so light I guess. So I don't think a tiny chip in one of those fins would make a huge difference - not good, but not a catastrophy.
I don't know. If he wants to be a ginuea pig, he can always just slap it on and see what happens!

Re:Pos cir-clip
Well, if anyone wants another guinea pig, I can try it later too. :P I bought a 14b that came damaged in the mail. I believe the cold side housing is bent. But I can always just throw a good one off of my new 14b coming. I know the fins are bent and some are chipped because of the impact from being dropped. I've taken it all apart already so i'm sure it's not ballanced anymore. It's useless anyway so hey, mabye i'll throw it on and see how it works for you guys.
