Re:Pos cir-clip

ehhh ---- it wasnt working. so i started bangin on it with a hammer and the center section came free and i rotated it and put it back together. now its right where i want it. but the shaft doesnt spin so freely anymore its kinda rough. u think it still works???? should i slap it on and find out??? if so still gotta wait to get my return line from steve. but uhh if not does anybody got a t3 with the standard t3 flange on it. not the retarded looking one. with the oil feed and and return pointing up and down if i was to put it on a std manifold.

That doesn't sound good. You may have bent the shaft. I'm no turbo guru, but if it is scraping, I don't think you want to use it.

Re:Pos cir-clip

yo,
go buy some circlip plyers man!

its a tool made specifically to take off circlips,
and the ones on turbos can be gigantic, so you really need that tool, and a big one even.
they should come with various attachments to fit your clip properly.

read this for the 14b
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Turbo-rebuild.html

i'd say, take it apart properly, then make sure you reassemble it again so you know its assembled properly.

Re:Pos cir-clip

Hope you marked the wheel before you took it apart...

Re:Pos cir-clip

why do u say that??? i dont think it matters on this particular turbo. cause i u cant even take the center section apart. i dont know i could be wrong. but from what i saw it should be cool. im sure plenty of people have taken it apart and not marked it and came out cool when they put it back together

Re:Pos cir-clip

They shave material from the wheel to balance everything. Imagine driving your car with one wheel unbalanced by 1oz. You're going to feel it at 65mph (~920rpm). Now imagine your turbo spinning at 90,000rpm or so, and being off by... any amount. :o

I'm sure some people have taken their turbos apart without marking everything, but then they may have wondered why they blew up so quick too...

I'm not saying it definately will (who knows, maybe you put it back like it was anyway?), I'm just saying it ain't a good idea. My .02 and nothing more. :)

Re:Pos cir-clip

aww man...haha ur starting to put some doubt in my mind that this ---- is fucked up. what should i do? cause all mine consisted of was just the center section and the turbine wheel and i just took out the compressor side and put it back in. i didnt see what i should mark. it really didnt consist of anything. let me know man
