Porting Turbo???

Re:Porting Turbo???
www.turbomike.com/trturboport.htm says he gained 2 mph in the 1/4 on a stock car
Ported compressor & exhaust housings vs. stock
Ported 14b housing.
Ported vs. Non-Ported 14b Housings
As can be seen in most of the pics, all ridges/steps have been done away with. I guess if nothing else this will help a bit along with a polish to remove all rough parts of the castings. Also, people experiencing boost creep should look into porting their wastegates.

Re:Porting Turbo???
I ported my stealth turbos, they needed serous help !!! I was going to port my WRX turbo, but its pretty good from the factory.
I plan on porting my 14bs for the stealth when I finally get them. But both the exhaust flanges have wastegate downs so the o2housing/exhuast flange wouldn't need any work, just the inlets and outlets. I also ported my EX. manifolds already.
Polishing anything on the exhuast side of the turbo is pretty pointless, its just going to get coated with carbon after a little driving...
Hehe, make sure if/when you port your WG that you don't port the gate bigger than the WG puck, hehe...
Porting the WG will also help your motor breath once you reach a set psi b/c a lot more of the exhuast is being forced out the WG hole.

Re:Porting Turbo???
basic porting dsmers do is: 2g manifold, ported out, port the turbo exhaust housing and the o2 housing, plus a larger downpipe and bigger exhaust. talking to a guy that owns a 100% dsm preformance shop said you should gain about 40hp...seems like a lot, but the more you free up the exhaust on a turbo the better it gets
