Default painting fmic

does painting your fmic make it less effective? like would the paint insulate the metal enough to make a difference? or maybe theres a paint that would be better then others? how bout powder coat?

Go with a light amount of paint, and don't try to get it down between the tubes. Just do it enough to cover the face lightly. Most of the cooling is done across the long faces of the tubes, not the round leading edge that you are painting.

In theory you will loose some cooling effects, but not to the point that it will matter.

I painted mine semi gloss and it almost disappeared. I also used black mesh in front of it. Looks totally different from my avatar.

get Dupli Color 1200F spray paint w/ ceramic...i used it on my IC and it is supposed to increase heat dispersion. It may not actually do taht, but at least it isn't killing coolin capacity. Also, wait like a week before moving the IC or w/e you paint, it takes a while to cure as i later found out by moving it....now i have to repaint it!!

the only thing i'd ever put on my i.c is bbe by swain technology its a thin coating the disapates heat...........dupont 1200 on the other hand just keeps in heat which is effective on exhaust but not on parts that need to shed heat. it won't kill it but it will loose some of its thermal efficiency

I would paint it several coats, otherwise the ---- chips off incredibly easy. I've painted a few IC's.. no problems here
