Default open downpipe?

sorry, my friend just asked me this question and im not really sure, does "open downpipe" mean no downpipe at all or the downpipe is just not connected to the remaining exhaust?

Could be either, but I personally wouldn't run a turbo setup without at least a small section of pipe leading the exhaust out of the engine bay.

Yeah it is technically either. But most often it is just a DP out of the engine bay, and then nothing after that.
