I use 5-40 or 10-40 regular castrol GTX. I change my oil once a month and have never had any problems.

you want the last digit as high as possible.
The higher the last digit, the most viscous the oil will remain in the turbo.
Higher numbers indicate a "thicker" oil.
10-30 is actually likely to be a thicker oil at 200 degrees compared to "5-50"

Generall lessons: Run synthetic - turbos run hot and dino oil cokes much easier...

I'm no petrochemistry expert (i'm sure someone who is one or pretends to be one will jump-in with 2 pages of cut and pasted facts on the matter) but it's my understanding and experience that the higher the last digit, the higher the HOT viscosity.

Yes, about the regular 10-40, yes, it's a much better choice than 10-30 for turbo cars. it's often sold as Diesel oil, which doesn't mather and it's most of the times even cheaper than regular 10-30 so I guess diesel oil would be "THE" Hmt turbo oil !!
