Default Oil Supply for Holset

What size oil supply line are you guys running on the holsets? Do you need a restrictor like the garretts? I went to get a fitting for it and the smallest they had was a holset magic size to -5AN or -6AN. Is that going to be to big or do you think it will be ok?

The holset manuals say 60psi max pressure and 90psi for cold start. Measuring pressure at the point you are tapping from would be the best idea.

Holsets have internal restrictors. The fitting size depends on which turbo you have.

he351VGT. I didn't see a restrictor in it. I guess Volume is not the problem then, just pressure, so as long as my oil pressure doesn't get over 60psi I should be good. I'll have to take a pic of it when I get home. The hole is pretty huge. Aero, what are you doing for the oil supply on yours?

I drilled and tapped the fitting that came in my turbo to fit an NPT to An fitting. It is fed from the head. At the oil filter housing from the stock pressure sensor location I have 60-70 psi cruising at 3000-3500 rpm. The head is somewhere below that, I haven't measured the pressure there.

I can't remember if the braided line is a -3 or -4.

Yeah, I have a -3 right now and would love to run that, but then again the hole is so huge going into that thing that I am worried the -3 may not be enough.

im using -3 line on mine, and so far so good...

i just took that fitting that came in the turbo, the one that is like a brake line, drilled a hole in it and threaded it to 1/8 NPT and threaded a npt to AN fitting in it and ran a -3 line from the oil pressure sensor fitting on the back of the block to the turbo. like i said, so far so good...
