Dang, hope there's room for it under there :l

I went through the whole 'slammed-to-the-deck' phase and lost count how many times I grounded ----. Now I'm grown up and prefer to go faster than I look :D

If that mani will flip over and clear the inner wing with a decent sized turbo, it'd be worth it for us RHD folks to get to start from. No hassles to chop the WG location, but the stock SSAC is just too damn close for comfort.

Oh, and I'd rather start with the S50B30US motor than my S50 euro motor I had in my M3; damn thing was a money pit from start to finish. M kitted 328 gets me the looks and turbo gets more performance than a N/A motor with alpha-n and a carbon airbox ever could...

Oooops, thread hijack >:D

Re: noob to the whole FI

my car sits at stock height. i see no need to go lower than that with an M3. the wastegate tucks up pretty much flush with the frame rail. its going to work out pretty nicely.

i cant try flipping it over cause my A/C hoses are in the way. i wish they were routed differently cause i would like to try it but the M3 is a daily driver for me and in Florida it is too hot to not have it. my civic is the racecar and doesnt have A/C. i drive it like once a week. lol

so, this is completely off topic, but is there any chance i could buy euro Bimmer parts from you?

i would kinda like some stock ITB's and a few other things that i cant think of off the top of my head

Re: noob to the whole FI

Ahhh. When I first got my car it had two broken coil springs, and I couldn't find a set of decently priced stockers. It was cheaper to go for an Eibach 15/30 lowering spring kit, which was the worst decision EVAR. Damn things were so soft I swore they were for a 318. Wheels rubbed the arches like crazy with any more than one person on board. I agree though, no need to change from stock, just make sure it's fresh as they're hard on suspension.

As for euro parts, sure :D I have a friend that breaks BMWs so will ask what he has. You just want the ITBs? I thought about doing an EDM parts emporium for you US guys; I scooped an Si cluster for 30$ and a P28 for 20$ at the junkyard yesterday :)

Re: noob to the whole FI

the ITB's and the part that connects them to the head. Unless it's all one piece. I have never seen a set off of a car so I don't really know the setup. Maybe the plenum too so I can run them with my MAF for now. Eventually I am going Megasquirt and I will change from a MAF to MAP. Then I can just run them with velocity stacks.

I'm sure there are a few other things but I can't think of them right now. I will have to do some research and see what all of the differences are again.

This is one hell of a thread jack. LOL

Re: noob to the whole FI

You can say that again :)

The ITBs bolt direct to the head, they have short runner that matches the round TB to the oval shaped port.

You're gonna have to port the hell outta the US head though, stock euro ports are HUGE! AIUI the US motor has a stock M52 head? I know S50US cams are popular to fit into the M52B28 for more power.

Oh, and I do a nice line in ching chong meow carbon airboxes, we run them with a set of alpha-n mapped chps on the stock ECU, usually take power out to about 340chp with bolt ons.

Re: noob to the whole FI

PM me some pics of these airboxes. I am interested. That 340hp, is that with the US 240hp stock engines? If so, a 100hp increase with bolt ons is pretty insane

Re: noob to the whole FI

Nah, it's 340bhp on a euro 286bhp engine. You can get more if you fit schrick 284 cams.

The US motor is really just a bored and stroked 2.5. Did you get the OBD1 manifold fitted, or was it the strangled OBD2 one? Will sort you some airbox pics out soon; the noise they make is incredible. It's almsot enough to make you want to stay all motor :)
