i like the mani, looks like a solid job

btw, meth is great, but meth+ an FMIC is even better :P

I have a 97 SC2 that i've been wanting to turbo for years. Always heard the bottom end can't hold power tho. I'd be a little more curious on your set up. what injectors are you using?

No vids yet. Just immagine a Saturn with a vacume cleaner under the hood and you know how it sounds. Now immagine that same pig running a lame ass 15.50 and you get the idea.

That cast bitch of a manifold is my lover. It rocks ass and I love it for that. And it is strong as ---- because I have a bad habit of cracking ----.

The meth is just fine for now. FMIC would be nice, but I have no need for it yet. Actually, the meth is capable of some serious BTU killage.

Forged is overkill. I don't need it. Too poor. The stock ---- has been proven to run fine for 230 DYNO (not rice) horsepower. I can't afford that much power 'till college is over. And the SOHC Saturds make more torque than the DOHC everywhere under 4000 anyway. In my opinion, these plasic peices of ---- buzz pretty damn bad above 4000, so why stress myself out spinning the piss out of it. Not a very smooth engine, compared with...well...everything else.

I am running 9psi, which is good enough for now. I need to keep this thing somewhat reliable for the rest of the summer. Then I can crank up the boost and blow it up right.

I take a lot of ---- for that 90 degree, but the thing pulls plenty ------ hard right to redline (5600 HA!) , so it stays. I have taken it apart a couple times right after running it and the fuel and meth isn't puddling up anywhere, so ---- it. It stays. And besides, you ever notice the 90 degree bend from the plenum to any of your intake runners?

Fysh, go to plastikracing.net and lurk for a while. You will lurn all sorts of cool ways to blow up your Saturd. Just make sure you know the diffarence between a Saturn and a Honda (some people think you can turbo them the same. you can't.). Completely dffarent worlds. We have to make EVERYTHING and test it as we go. We learn how to mix and match ---- from diffarent years to make a little more power. No easy engine swaps. no MAD VTAAAAAAK. No Hondata. Almost no good terbo manifolds. ----, even SAFC's hate our ---- on boost. Nevertheless, there are Saturn guys with 500 wheel horsepower, so don't be afraid of the plastic.

And the stock 19 pound injectors are still in there, the two in the charge pipe are 42 pounders.

Considered running a DOHC tranny? the gears are shorter so it'll be better down the track. Hell, with a budget SPS intake and a ghetto 2.5" exhaust I ran a 15.6 on shitty tires. Speaking of which, how do you not blow trannys? I've blown 2 so far.. (including one yesterday) and I'm rarely hard on my car.

I've also heard rumor that you can modify the block to fit SBC rods/pistons. Or something along those lines.. Is this true?

Re: One more Terdbo Saturn

I don't know about the SBC rods, but I guess anything is possible. There are some decent aftermarket parts available for Saturns, most people just mix and match the stock ----. Certain years had better rods, others had better pistons, the cranks almost never break, bla. Also, lots of people with Saturns older than mine will use SOHC pistons in their DOHC car. That alone brings the compression down to like 8:1 or something. After like 1999 they both had the same size combustion chamber and pistons though.

The SOHC tranny is the one most of the terbo Saturd guys swap to, rather than the other way around. Wide ratios go good with big fat torque curves. I waste less time rowing the box, plus I am only doing 2700rpm's on the highway instead of 3500 or so.

I don't know how you keep blowing them up. I have had a few of these cars with no tranny problems yet. Are you blowing the diff pin out of them? Big bang and a chunk of the case is missing? If so, quit doing burnouts and try to get the car to hook. Also, on the next trans have the diff pin welded in. That will postpone its escape. Lots to read about that on the plastikracing forums. There are guys that put 500 wheel horses through stock transmissions. They seem to be pretty stout. See www.qksltwo.com .

Thats exactly what happened the first time. blew a hole in the bell housing. Not sure about this one as I haven't had time to pull the tranny as its a bitch to do :/ thing about the second time was that after replacing the first I haven't been hard on it and I rarely get on the throttle. Cruising 45mph, it felt like the clutch disengaged and engaged on its own, then tranny fluid and smoke everywhere. I'll definitely look at plastikracing and get a SOHC tranny for the gas mileage increase if mine is blown.

dude that is cool. How do you like the extra injector set-up. Im thinking about doing it on my truck. Are you using a wideband to tune it or are you data logging or what?

And yeah i would do some sort of intercooler @ 10psi.

btw, about your 90 at the tb....go to home depot and check out the rounded 90s they have. there's no sharp angles in em'. they might not hold as well, but they're pretty cheap and it's worth a try....only if it bothers you though.

Re: One more Terdbo Saturn

The EIC is working well. It is a super simple setup with 2 knobs (threashhold and gain). The only drawback is that I can get it to run about 13:1 or 12:1 at part throttle and 10:1 at WOT, or too lean part throttle and stoich at WOT. I am also screwing around with the methanol injection, which carries some fuel value as well. It is possible that with the propper tuning I could get the meth and EIC to compliment eachother, but that will take some time. Oh, and I am using a PLX WBO2, complete with Super Rice JDM A-Pillar Guage Pod! (i hate a-pillar gauge pods, but interior real estate is at a premium here)

For simplicity, the EIC is the way to go on 2000 to 2002 Saturns with the Motorola computer. Earlier years with the Delco unit are easier to adapt the big injector/SAFC method to. There are Saturn guys making almost 350 horses on EIC systems, so they can work well. If you are serious about them check out a company called 034. They make a super nice EIC for way cheap. I don't remember their website, but it should be easy to find.

As for an intercooler, why? As it is, after beating the ---- out of my car for a long time I can pull over and feel the intake manifold and it is cold to the touch. COLD! Like before you start it in the morning after sitting outside all night cold. Even before I installed the turbo that bitch would burn my hand! Now if that doesn't say something about the cooling effect of methanol, then I don't know what does! Just for fun I am thinking of installing a thermocouple in the plenum. Any doubters should go look at the forums for Snow Performance. The alky system is called Boost Cooler.
