My motor got fucked. The first time I installed the blockguard I installed it flush. Bad idea. Overheated very bad and I couldn't stop it with the best cooling system available. I could drive under no load for quite a while without overheating, but if I went up a hill or hit boost it would heat up on me. It really sucked driving around with the heater on when it was 120+ degrees out.

Anyways, after that little fiasco I tore the head back off and moved the blockguard down about a half inch. This seemed to help, but if I did any high psi pulls it would heat back up. I couldn't figure out why it was doing this until I started thinking about how small those holes were. I posted on here a long time ago with this problem and got alot of good suggestions which got me thinking. I ended up tearing the head back off and drilling the **** out of the blockguard enlarging ALL of the holes so the coolant would flow better and not cause me to overheat. By this time the overheating had taken it's toll on my poor little abused D15. The head was warped and I later learned that the cylinders had warped as well. This was of course after I replaced EVERY piece of the cooling system which consisted of two radiators, two thermostats, three radiator caps, one water pump,...because I was in total disbeliefe that the blockguard was still causing these problems.

good luck

What a newbie....lol it's not any 1.6 liter every 1.6 liter engine difffers.....I bet it would have a lot of lag ona D16 though.

Seriously though, those holes need to be bigger. I doubt you will take my advice about this, but please just think about it before you ignore it. Take it from someone who has had overheating problems with blockguards. I'm not just talking out of my *** here. You seem to know what you are doing and it looks to be a nice setup you have there so I would hate to see it go to ---- over a stupid thing like that. Good luck. Post more pics as the progress goes on.

After you enlarge the holes... Don't forget to angle the edges. It helps increase flow by reducing drag as the coolant flows through.

This turbo is supposed to have less lag than a normal T3/T4

Quote Speedy2K: Fuel management will be done with an AEM EMS with a J/G Edelbrock intake with dual fuel rail someone have an way to calculate the necesseray injector size ?

Here's the equation to calculate what size injectors you need:

((power x BSFC) x (1 + saftey margin)) / number of injectors = pounds/hour (use a 15-20% saftey margin)

If you have the EMS you'll know what this equation means. I would just do one row of big *** injectors because no injectors are too large for the EMS. Lots of people are having problems with the twin row of injectors trying to get them to run right
