Default new guy with a vw

im new to this, i have a couple buddies who have boosted hondas, but i am trying something new. i have a 89 vw jetta and am doing a 2.0 swap into it. i got a t3 turbo from the junkyard from a saab. curious to what the wastegate is set at for this turbo. i have a audi front mount intercooler for it. i have been reading for awhile about it, and if there is anything or body that has done a boosted vw that i should know, let me know,
thanks

seems like it should be a pretty solid setup,

2.0's have alot more torque to start off with than
honda's dseries.

Why not just swap the 1.8T, if your going though the trouble of putting a newer 2.0 in ?

The GTi 1.8T with a ARP chip is pretty quick... I'd like to have a 1.8T in a old *** rabbit.

the 1.8t engine ITSELF, not even talking about installing it, is ------ expensive,
I think they cost like 6grand or some ----

VW modifying isnt quite as easy on the poorman as hondas.

Wastegate should be around 7psi or so.

What kind of fuel management will you be using?
I've got a friend with a 89 cabriolet that wants to do the ABA swap I guess. Not sure what that is. He got the block for $100 and is gonna put a 16v head on. He says the compression ration is gonna be like 8.1:1 (he told me) which seems WAAAYYY too low. Who knows though.

i am in college right now, so i am trying to go cheap as possible, so i am most likely going to use a fmu that one of my buddies has laying around, unless someone has some other suggestion for fuel management that would be cheap.
i would have loved to do a 1.8t swap but like was said above, it is super expensive.
the aba swap is the motor code on the 2.0, which is what i am doing, with a crossflow head (which is how most hondas are i believe)

Yes, but the vr6 is aroung 8,000 to 10,000 if you can get one. I love my honda. Any d-series is only a couple hundred bucks and even a b18c5 is not 8,000. I have a friend with an 88 golf, 2.0 which was turboed by the previous owner, but then he took everything out before selling.
