ok guys, just did some reasearch on fmu's. I got it all figured out now. Ill probably be going this route. Now my question is this. What type of FMU should i get. from teh reading i did, it seems thata certain fmu is made to work at a certain 'set' a/f ratio. Whats a good a/f ratio for my setup? (d15 with a TD05h/T-25/RHB5) and im sure its better to be too rich then lean....

well...not really. a fmu just bumps the fuel pressure up. lets say, a 12:1 fmu bumps the fuel pressure 12 psi for every pound of boost. this is why no one likes them because at, for instance, 8 lbs. of boost, you have 96 psi of fuel pressure plus the stock fuel pressure.

so basically I should keep it at low boost(5psi or so) and get one thats like 8:1 or so? Would that be better?

Im really learning alot guys, thanks!

i dunno about the different ratio fmus, but i think every1 on here that runs a fmu is either running 12:1 or 10:1. yeah just keep the boost down and you'll b fine

well 10:1 at 5 lbs would be 50psi on top of what its already sending...is that even that high? what would be too excessive?

also ona side note, ive been looking at BOV's. I think ill just get the 1G eclipse one. or do i need a manual boost controller to do this? Or if i have a manual boost controller alone, I dont need a BOV? I kinda want one anyways, just wondering.

i used a FMU on my 187k mile d15b2 with DPFI for a few months. 6 psi most days and when i felt a little nuts i would turn it up around 12. held up pretty good. it finally let lose on a 9psi 3rd gear pull

that'd be 50psi+whatever it runs with no boost so you'd be at like 100psi

what kind of power were you putting down iwth this?

I got a civic that im going to probably end up putting the mpfi onto...but who knows

if the fmu would work i might as well rape the ---- out of it and have some fun.
but i think the mpfi /a6/or z6 swap would be better overall it'd give lots of power...but who knwos

nah man i totally know what you mean. If i was going to do this the real way id go mpfi for sure. Its just that Im selling this car soon. and I dont even wat to be spending as much as I am on this. Im trying to save up for my 5th gen civic. I will not cheap out on that car. I just want the cheapest way to boost this thing and have it be fairly reliable. its not like im gonna see redline at every stoplight. Just for occasional use. I think this setup should be ok..

yeah

that sounds good

you're starting to make me question if i want to just say ---- it to the mpfi converstion im going to do on my civic and just boost it a little bit w/ a fmu unit becuase i can get one for like $50. I already have most of the ---- that is neede for the converstion and all of that but who knows. If i really wanna do it right I'll just pull that motor and put a d16z6 and boost the **** out of it...which is prolly what i'll do
