Default Need some honest HMT opinions

Ok, heres the deal. I got a Co-Op/Intern for my college degree. Sweet? NOT! I drive 200+ miles a day. All of that except maybe 10 miles is spent on the highway at 80mph.

Now, my car, 89 Si hatch, D16y8, 80,000 miles.

Want to run boost. Have it all planned out, buggeted in and all.

-Stock Internals
-t3
-injectors
-fuel pump
-Hondata
-Professinal tunning
-All the other accesories as well.

ANYWHO......Will I be safe boosting on a car that HAS to get me back and forth. I mean, I NEED reliablity.

Any help would be awesome guys.

Thanks

If you need reliability that badly I wouldn't suggest turbocharging it. Yeah you can build a reliable turbo kit but its not going to be nearly as reliable as an N/A honda. Get a daily driver, and get another car to ---- around with.

w3rd. Turbocharging a motor doesn't add reliability.

I've got a 98 EX sedan with Alpine head, mp3 changer, PS2, ETC that I thought it would be fun to turbo. Now I'm driving my Geo Prizm until I get the motor fixed. DA'OH!!!! What was I thinking?

Even if you don't blow the motor, you aren't going to be able to drive it daily while you are installing everything and tuning it, unless you are a professional mechanic or pay a shop to do it quick-like. IMO Get a cheap car you don't really care about and turbo that. Then when you've got some skills, screw up your nice car.

EDIT: or at least make sure you've got an extra engine on hand and can swap it out fast!!!

My power goal is 200 at the crank, or wheels, dunno. dont really matter to me.

Any other options I might have to obtain this goal while not sacraficing a daily driver?

it can be done reliably at 6-7 psi but no one stays that low too long. 7 psi sucks *****.
