Ok so my turbo is almost done and all im waiting on now is IC and IC piping. I was checking everything out and i see a hairline crack in the exhaust housing its about an inch long and the width of a piece of hair. can i take it to the exhaust shop and get them to weld it back together so it doesnt get worse.

 

Where exactly? Hairline cracks are normal near the wastegate hole.

 

its the exhust piece between the aluminum compressor housing and the downpipe. its a td05h 14b and its beside a mitsub. logo its very small hairline. can an exhuast shop weld this for me?

 

So that narrows it down to somewhere on the turbo...

 

anyway reguardless of where it is in the exhuast portion of the turbo can it be welded back. i was told by a buddy its jus a stress crack and shouldnt be all the way through

 

dont waste your money, time, or worries on that damn crack. that is normal and welding cast iron is expensive. Where on teh turbine housing is it? this has been asked already.

 

just ignore it. every 14b exhaust housing is crack, long as it still spools just chill.

 

i have a fairly decent size crack in my t3 exhaust housing... its normal. Dont worry about it unless it starts to get REALLY leaky and makes it laggy
