My recent build. 93' SC300

Re: My recent build. 93' SC300
I redid a few things over the weekend which changed the whole feel of the car. I've got the karman maf which doesnt like metering boosted air.
I changed it to a draw through setup. I also installed new copper plugs (properly gapped) along with a walbro 255 and the car pulls like a bat out of hell.
2psi on the new setup feels like the 6psi I used to feel when I had the maf in-line. I'm hoping to get to the dyno this week for final tuning and some hard numbers. Going to run it at 10PSI.
The car cost me around $2,500, but also came with a lot of replacement parts I needed + some extras.
On top of that I spent $1,000 on the turbo kit, $500 for gauges and $450 for leather. Figure another $500 for misc stuff like tune up supplies and what not.
So grand total figure: $4,500
That sucks, sorry to hear... Someone called me car a del sol once... Weird.
I get that A LOT. Honestly, I've seen the kits in action and thats the only reason I got it. I know quite a few folks running the kit and they've had no issues for months. A few supra guys even run the kit without issues. A local buddy was running the kit on his 1jz and eating everything in sight. Making just a little over 525wrhp @ 25psi with meth.
lol thanks
The emange is a pretty solid unit I think. I've had it on 2 other cars and I know a few guys that ran them. Either way I couldn't use it since my MAF didn't agree with it. I'm pretty happy with the AFC, for now.
Yea its a really solid car. It does haul ***... lol.

NICE! how much did it cost to bring it back to life?

and i just put my sc up for sale since i had my del sol stolen
ching chang failure in future
XSPower turbo kit? Meh, you are brave.
Props on the build! Id stay away from the emanage though. Ask Joseph Davis about the n/a-t mkIV supra he tuned with emanage. It was full of fail.

Do you have a return fuel system? or returnless? So the SAFC working good? stock injectors? No fmu? Did you do any mods to the trans? (valve body mods or what not)
Keep us posted on this, it gives me hope and knowledge of what I and a few dudes with an IS can do. I love the SC300s but they are getting harder to find. Looking forward to your dyno results.
Sounds like I need to change my computer to an odb1 (for fuel only) and run that setup if its working good for you. I always knew that engine could be turbocharged cheaper than all the jdm nutswingers an the forums at My.is

Rob, it's a 2JZ. He can hammer it with detonation daily for the better part of a year before he needs to start thinking of doing something better before he hurts something. If you owned one you would know this. :P :P
I swear I could field a reliable 7 second 2JZ-GE drag car running an FMU.

I respectfully disagree. The technology is dated and their are much better options for the money these days. MAF translator PRO is one such option, as is a honduh AEM or even map ecu1. None use the karmaan vortex maf sensor and all will have the capability to tune your car far more safely than the emanage or an afc. my $.02.

Re: My recent build. 93' SC300
Thanks for clarifying. I did'nt know the 1jz had a better tranny, I will keep that in mind. If I could get around the ODB2 for fuel I would be golden. Unfortuneatly I have the DBW (electronic throttle to a point) that the ecu presently has controll over. Do you have a tranny cooler on? I run one for preventative measures at the moment.
Is it possible to run a pre odb2 ecu (95-96 and older 2jz) in paralell that would control only fuel? I guess this is the wrong section to ask.. :1 If your SAFC is working good for 7 psi with that ecu, a used 93-96 ecu is probubly cheap at the bone yard to be used in conjuction with a cheap and simple engine mgt device. Most of you guys are not fans of this time of engine mgt but some of us are not graced with either a chippable ecu or a "reflashable" ecu. I am surprised that noone has marketed one for the IS as it seem like alot of people are interested in modifying it. Sometimes I feel like selling the IS and getting a honda....

I'm running no trans cooler at the moment, but I have one that I will be installing once I get some time.
Right now the AFC is working great, easy to adjust and tune with.
There was someone on clubna-t.com that was working on getting a dual ECU setup going, so thats something you may want to look into. Check out the website, a few IS guys are on there and I know 2-3 have boosted VVTI motors. I believe one guy built a track IS so its pretty much gutted. It looks sick.

Re: My recent build. 93' SC300
Thanks, I will check out that website. I am assuming the stock ecu would still handle the VVTI, just hand the fuel injectors over to the other ecu (let the stock ecu control timing). I think once the price comes down a bit more in the IS and maybee some of the newer SCs and GSs, more fruits of experimentation will be had.
