my new manifold - what do you think??

Re: my new manifold - what do you think??
Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Yeah, I just started TIG welding this year and I'm still learning. It is still dirty and has to be ground down. I have to install the turbo flange at an angle pointing away from the block because the clearances were not measured - I just eyed the damn thing. It is coming along though, the tough part is done. I was planning on doing a twin turbo manifold but I needed to get something on the car fast.
I bought the plate at a local steel shop and paid $30 for a square piece. The plasma is nice but I'm wondering if a milling machine would have been better. I can cut any flange I want but it is not clean. That is the only problem I am having now, getting the proper finished look.
Just wanted to say thanks again for your comments.

damn dude thats a nice engine stand lol :P
if you get at all concerned with looks, round off the corners of the flange on a bench grinder and grind down the welds and paint it and it'll look like a million bucks. looks very functional tho
goodluck!

Re: my new manifold - what do you think??
It looks good. The only thing I'm seeing is that it may hang the turbo way low, making your drain line a complete bitch. Most hf/adaptor plate manifolds are a bitch to do a drain on, and your's looks like it may hang the turbo lower than that.
Remedies. Depending on how much engine bay room you're working with, maybe bring a single (whatever the outlet size is on that collector) size pipe back up and sit the turbo on top, like a top mount manifold. The engine code says D16a6, so you probably aren't working with much space on an EF. Mount that turbo and see if your drain line is looking like it's gonna give you problems. Good job, mang.
