Not bad, are you still useing the hf mani?

Never had an HF mani. It was a Splog that I made. I have the splog at .42/48 on it right now for breakin. I am ordering up stainless this week to make a topmount for the holset.

TBH I think on your original setup it was the sidemount. My last setup was the same turbo on a forged 8.4:1 D16Z6 with cat/stock b-pipe, and with a small fmic it got 6psi at 4krpm (140wtq), but HP peaked at redline (160whp). After cranking it up, I was able to hold upwards of 15psi to redline with that turbo, maybe more had I tried. The manifold - a shitty sink-trap setup made with 2" pipe and a DX 4-1 cast manifold... Also was tuned via me on Crome. If not the smic, it would probably be some bad boost or exhaust leak - or a shitty WG. Mine was CDM as well, but always worked great.

I will be very interested in how the VGT ---- goes for you. All you really need is to move the VGT actuator right around full boost (as long as its making good torque). It should really help out, especially at high rpm/boost.

I dont remember which cock knuckle there tuned it but I remember asking him how he was going to check for detination and he said blah blah on the other side of the shop will hear it and let me know. I should have ripped it off the dyno right there but I was an idiot. Thats ok. I have all the shiz to tune this beast myself now. I would love to have Dave Lee tune it but last time I tried for a month and a half to get in touch with him and could never get in contact with him. He finally returned my PM 2 weeks after the engine took a ----. Lee, if you are reading this, call me so I can get you some $$$ for tunning this monster.

What was that motor was in that MGB that was on the dyno before you? Never seen the like of that in a B. Gotta upgrade the brakes on them for sure (I have a '72B)

It is an SR20 with either a t-70 or a 60-1. I dont remember which but it was pretty bad ass.

so can you explain exactly how you're going to manage the VGT? It's very interesting stuff, and even more if it can be linked to the honda ecu.

I work with a guy that used to be an electrical engineer. I told him about this turbo and he came up with a real simple circuit to control a servo with a pwm signal and move it based on voltage (or map pressure). He also said that he can set endpoints and control the hold voltage or map signal. My turbo should be here today so we are going to tear into the stepper motor that controls the VGT and will see what kind of input it requres. We might just switch to running it with a servo and call it a day though.

Well, I got a little work done today. Got the old engine out, new one in, intercooler mounted (and stealthed) everything is wired up and ready to go. Just have to make some new charge pipes, new wastegate dump tube and a couple other little house keeping things. Right now I only have the little .42/.48 saab turbo on in while I break it in and until I can get some time to build a manifold for the HolSlut. It has been over a year sense I drove this ----- and I want to get out and drive it. Hoping to be driving this thing to lunch tomorrow. Enjoy.
