this downpipe will be real interesting to make, about 3.5 inches between the slave cyl bleeder and the edge of the turbo, gonna need traction bars or hack up the crossmember to make it work.

exactly what I was going to do. How much money do you have in that build without the cost of the car?

I would get traction bars thats just me. My drag car has them and my crx has the stock crossmember its night and day the room you have without the huge oem crossmember staring out ya.

haha, your build pretty much inspired me. i remember reading a while back your suspension set-up having 1 stock rear shock and one kyb AGX, well when i bought this shell i was looking at the rear suspension and its got 2 ground control sleeves with one stock shock and one AGX :S

i would say total investment is well under $5000 including the cage and slicks.

nhra and nopi dont run races anymore. Nopi is bankrupt

Import scene is very slow business are going out of business being sold out daily. Importers are running out of motors. Many known importers no longer deal with performance parts and switched to just replacement parts

Competition hardly. No ability to make a living more like it.

JK made a solid product for cheap that wasnt the problem.

I was unaware of all of that information. However, even in Japan, motors are becoming very scarce. Like I have told several people, you cant just run out and get ---- like I guess it "used to be". Another discussion for another day. Sucks for everyone though. :(

---- ya i have a very similar build going with my VX EG hatch. How much power you planning on making?Did you weld the block guard in then have it decked?Keep the pics coming and if you surf ebay ETD makes a nice traction bar for sub $300 that has nice options for mounting EG half rads.

Was that with the upgrades?

To the op; https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=92514.0

I run a old school Innovative that uses the stock outer rods and bushings, but it is a really solid part.

Re: my d16z6 holset vitara build (lots of pics!)

i pressed and tacked the block guard in before decking and boring it. i think im gonna go with the Etd bars that Tuner Toys sells.

I run the newest generation of ETD Trac. bars and I drive the car every day. They seem to be holding up fine.

just ordered the Innovative traction bars from Spoolin Performance :y

still trying to figure out how im gonna make a downpipe work with only 3 1/8 inches between the bleeder and the exhaust side of the turbo... should be interesting

Re: my d16z6 holset vitara build (lots of pics!)

This is exactly what I should do with my CRX.

I love the build man.

Traction bars will make routing the DP so much easier.

Re: my d16z6 holset vitara build (lots of pics!)

just a quick update. got the 3" bends to make a downpipe in today, still waiting on my Innovative traction bars, and should have my charge pipe kit and intercooler by this weekend along with a wastegate. hoping to get everything finished this coming weekend and possibly tuned the following weekend.

I'm doing something very similar in my crx. 75.5 vitaras, fjt custom length rods, I just picked up an hx35 with 87k on it. I just hope it'll spool before redline lol! If it doesn't I'll just have to buy the fjt valvetrain kit and spin it to 10k. ::) Looking good!!

My traction bars should be here tomorrow after waiting all ------- month. Got about 300 miles on the motor right now just breaking it in n/a. Going to pick up a EX trans tomorrow because i can already tell this DX is gonna murder my 1/4 times. I will be getting it tuned on the 13th if all goes good.

Re: my d16z6 holset vitara build (lots of pics!)

Damn so where are the newer pic's? I am loving the build. Joes Hy-35 gets full boost a bit under 5k; the Hx-35 is a bit bigger.

sloTeg 08-28-2008 03:06 AM

Re: my d16z6 holset vitara build (lots of pics!)

thanks.I think with the DX trans it will fall out of boost between shifts, but we will see because i dont have time to swap out the trans before getting it tuned since i go back to school in a few days and work full time. Not much has changed since im just breaking the motor in stock right now, got about 500 miles on it, but i got the traction bars on and i will probably be building the downpipe, mounting the intercooler and building the charge pipes tomorrow, so ill make sure to snap some pics of that.
