My CRX build... update 6/25
4 Attachment(s)
It's getting a hell of a lot closer to being done (~1 month or so left) so I figured I would post pics for you nogs.
1988 CRX DX D16Z6 block with A6 head - Delta 272 cam - mild port - Z6 manifold - LS throttle body Cable SI trans Turbo kit: Ported HF manifold with external gate flange and adapter plate IHI/Borgwarner GM9 turbo Tial wastegate Ebay intercooler 2.5" IC piping DSM 450's (for now) DSM bov (might need another, we'll see) Xenocron fuel pump Tuning: Crome Gold (might be eCtune, we'll see what happens) Ostrich and HULOG Innovate Motorsports LC1 and DB gauge Car is completely built by me and tuned me except for the bottom end which I traded for. My goal is 300 on the 450's, then a switch to 1000cc and a little E85 action for about 350-375. Now for pics Attachment 17958 http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a8/...34/CRX/119.jpg Attachment 17959 Attachment 17960 Attachment 17961 |

Speaking of wheel bearings, anybody have luck doing a set of those without a shop press? I've been told to use a socket/hammer, but I think that might be a bit difficult to do. |
Re: My CRX build...
baller setup man, more pics nog
|
Re: My CRX build...
The price is right on that.
Did you paint the block? It's nice and shiney. Good luck. I had a practically complete z6/y8 setup done before I went without a job for a few months and had to sell it. Going LS-VTAK next :D Can't wait to see it run |
Re: My CRX build...
The block was hot tanked and then painted with some engine matte paint that I've been trying to find. Everything the auto parts stores have is really glossy (ie mexi shine) and I hate that ----. I wanna hit up the head/transmission with it, but it's not that big of a deal.

I'll try to get more pics as the setup progresses. This weekend I hope to have the motor/trans setup mated together and hopefully plant it into the car. I need to buy little things like shock top hats for the back, wheel bearings, and start thinking about repairing the rust. Re: My CRX build...
I see you're running a delta cam. I see alot of people using it in their builds. Where do you get them from and is it necessary to run aftermarket springs and retainers? Thanks for any info

Yup, you gotta call them. I picked it up second hand from a member here.
Did a little more today. Painted some stuff, ported the HF manifold and started bolting ---- together. I like this black wrinkle paint I got at Vatozone, but I kinda suck at spraying it. It turned out okay, good enough for me at least. Also started the downpipe, but ran out of welding gas. At least I got the first bend tacked on there. Next weekend I'm going to put the flywheel/clutch/transmission on and hopefully put the motor in the car. My hoist is bent to ---- so I may put it in from the bottom, we'll see how that works. Here are some more pics: Attachment 17906 Attachment 17907 Attachment 17908 Attachment 17909 Attachment 17910 |

Nice build. I'm gonna have to come over and play with that plasma cutter. If you need pointers on TIG'n get my number from steve and I can walk you through it or come over and help you out.
Your garage looks different than last time I was there. Did you move? |

Nice work so far looking good.CRX FTW.

Re: My CRX build... update 5/26/08
you might want to redo/tighten up/shortin the oil return line.

Re: My CRX build... update 5/26/08
very nice! ahh i hate welding in the patch panels! how do you plan on doing yours? i know when i did mine it worked well for my to put the patch behind it and lap it in, it keeps the warping down. and oil can effect too from the heat from welding it along there, and i fiberglassed behind it to keep away from corrosion,
|
Re: My CRX build... update 5/26/08
:o Wow Thats rotted as bad as this hatch I got
How much do you pay for the new sheet metal |
Re: My CRX build... update 5/26/08
I plan on just cutting each panel so the patch panel has about 1" more material. Then I'm going to bend the old panels down so it fits flush, then weld it into place with a bunch of small tacks. Then grind/body filler as needed.
For the sill panels I'm going to drill out the spot welds and re-weld those in. Each sill was 89 dollars from Majestic Honda and the patch panels were 130 on ebay. |

Re: My CRX build... update 5/26/08
Hell no I'm not Hmong. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I'm your average white kid :P
I'd like to see them break into my garage :) |
