I dont think anyone would get mad if I asked opinions on a 2.3 mustang turbo setup. I hear the motors are strong and everything and im basiclly wondering which shell would be the best to put the motor in and find a turbo for my preference.

I love handling and found that I wouldnt be happy with FWD understeer so I figured my next step would be mustang. I dont wanna say drift because the idea of me being a cartoon nerd would pop up and I dont really give a damn for tv let alone some initial D ----.

Also if I was to start getting into the kinda auto-x/drifitng type riding style which turbo would give me a suitable powerband for that type of driving.

I hope I havent pissed anyone off on the site yet so I can get a answer.....

Some people make turbo pintos. I think that is pretty cool and degenerate. Alternatively, you can just swap a 2.3 turbo into a 4 cyl mustang. Look on Turboford.org They run alot of different 2.3 turbo combos on there. It is a nice motor and they can get some good hp out of it.

Yeah I went on that site and its pretty dead and not setup as good as forums like this and others. Im not new to forums or anything but that site is horrible. I already knew about the site before so im not dissin you.

My internet is pissing me off like hardcore right now and im looking for mustang weight specifications. I wanna see what the lightest or best choice of mustang to look for and the pros/cons of the 2.3s I have to choose from. The pinto is a cool idea and its not exactly the ugliest car ever but I couldnt pull any babes in that and the mustang isnt exactly sexy but with good tire/wheel setup and a clean looking paintjob its many steps ahead of any pinto.

With mustangs, the notch is the lightest for sure. The 4 cyl models had the 7.5 inch rear which is also lighter but if you want to make alot of power, you need the 8.8 anyway. turboford is sort of a backwards site but it really has some good info. They got mad at me because my turbo ford was not a factory turbo and deleted my post. The merkur XR4Ti already has the turbo motor and it is pretty cool. I would doubt it is the lightest. There are some capris that also could be pretty cool. I know some of the early ones had 2.3L motors nonturbo and did not share the mustang platform. Later they were the same chassie.

Im not gonna go crazy into the mods and a solid 250-300 would pull hard as hell with a 5 speed in that car.

My friend has a 95 corvette, and another friend has a 00' gt with the R wing, and body kit. Those are basiclly my two most competitive drivers I have to ride with other then a Srt4, and some 13 sec honda/dsms.

I got a job starting next thursday and a few other good things going so Id say before the end of the summer its possible I will have my car decently built to rape people. I could drive it stock and have fun but of course I will have to have SOMETHING ya know.

I say go for it. Youll want to look for a hardtop notch with as few options as possible. Just swap the rear end as stated and you should be all ready to make some power.

My 97's stock skid pad numbers are 0.86g. I would not call that chopped liver. Accelerating out of a corner over bumps with the live rear axle is maybe the weakest point (plenty of hop). IRS cars will certainly be a lot better there. But overall, I would not call mustangs poor handlers.

If you keep the stock Z rated tires on the car, it is virtually undrivable in snow. Those tires turn to hard plastic in the cold and combined with weight bias away from the driving wheels, it is not a good time. However, if you get a set of snow tires like blizzaks or at least all seasons, it is actually not bad.
