The most ghetto turbo kit i have seen in a long time. Xenocron look inside

So after some beer and cleaning my garage yesterday, we found some plate steel and an old fucked up 14b. My friend was was saying he was going to pick up a ford aspire for free today to ---- around with, and i told him we should remote mount turbo it. Well it ended up the guy wasn't sure if he really wanted to get rid of it yet, cuase the only thing wrong with it was it kept shredding alternator belts. Everything else worked perfect. So we didn't even bother bullshitting with him. My friend dj was like "---- it, lets ghetto turbo the rex." Before you get all pissy about wasting a rex, don't worry. The story behing that is about a year ago it rained really hard, and he drove it through a ------- lake in the middle of the street before he remembered he had a cold air intake on it. So he water logged the motor. We pulled the pluggs and pumped a ---- load of water out of the intake mani and head, then did a full tune up. Compression really took a hit. A stock single cam zc putting 150's in each cylinder. And ever since then, it has just gotten worse. And slower. He also blew his tranny and motor mounts and axles at the track all on his first run, and with walmart tires. So now it has a 4 speed std tranny in an si rex. The motor is on its last leg, it doesn't like the higher rpms that the 4 speed makes it run, and smokes some. So we were like ---- it, lets remote mount the crx. Well we got a replacement motor already lined up, so we went ahead with it. Poured some oil into the turbo, blocked off all the lines and plugged what we could. Then we chopped his old rusty muffler off (also bought a cherry bomb turbo muffler to replace it with after we pull the kit off tonight) and welded the turbo straight to his exhaust. Then we went to lowes and bought about 15 feet of 1 3/4 pvc piping and some various elbows and a couple rubber couplers. Hooked it all up in about an hour and a half. The only problem was the wastegate didn't have a spring on it, So we went to vatozone and bought a random assortment of springs. Hooked one up the felt like about 3 pound but it opened the waste gate at about 4500 rpms at half throttle, so we put a beefier spring. Didn't even get to test this one, cuz the turbo locked up completely after 2 or 3 runs WOT in 2nd gear. So all in all it cost about $45 and an hour and a half of our time. And nothing on it is permanent after we chop the turbo off and reweld the new muffler in place. Now that he had his first taste of boost, he want's to do a real remote mount setup. With a new turbo, a blow off valve and wastegate that works. So we might have another post in a little bit. Well on to the pics. I only took two or three but it gets the ghettoness across. This is definetly the most home made peace of ---- kit ever, but it was fun for the 2 or 3 pulls it made. Motor ended up coming out fine, Compression stayed right where it was at.

Oh yeah, specs on the car:
sohc zc
7 pound flywheel with ebay stage 3 clutch/ pp
Lightweight crank pully
headers

Ok so laugh away. Im About to tear it all off in a couple minutes so its going to be back to stock here in about an hour. Oh yeah, welding stainless to cast iron is hard, so don't hate too much on the birdshit weld.

yeah well the vids are gunna be pretty hard seeing as the turbo is completely locked up. Time to look for a new one. Also i made him buy a pvc coupler with a screw in bung for something else, but it looks like with a little adapting a 450 fuel injector would fit into it pretty nicely. Im thinking run a power and ground too it with an on/off switch and then use the coolant resovior to supply fuel. So at least some kind of management. If i can find a stock wastegate spring for the 14b that would be great. So at the local junkyard the turbo is $50 (if we can find one) and i a stock 1g dsm bov for $10 from a friend. Engine management will probably we advance the dizzy pretty far and dump way too much fuel into it. But i would much rather run rich than run lean. We'll see when he gets his next paycheck, everytime he sees that turbo he gets all sad. Didn't even get to boost it much.....
