Modified SC61 @ 18psi, Built A6 + Nitrous. Whos got some insight?Should I Try It
Basically I was set on using the t3 .60/.63 I bought form Mahcivic but like I said in that big thread I made, I was totally blown, I took it apart and needless to say the exhaust wheel seems like something large was in there, totally mangled and bent on all fins
So I want to buy this SC61 for my A6 instead. Ivealready bought the turbo, but I snagged the son of a bitch for $500 so if I want to sell it I def wont lose any money. Heres the turbo specs:
T3, T350 76 trim wheel hot side .63 a/r, 4 bolt dp pattern. Compressor is an E housing .60 a/r using the GT40 compressor wheel
Seems pretty big to me for a D16, Ive seem a stock SC61 on a built B18c reach full boost (26psi) @ 5400 on C16.
So Im wonderring how long in the powerband until Im hitting 16-18psi with this snail with a built A6 with about a 9.7:1 C/R, head is totally worked, tons of bolt ons.
My setup:
D16a6 head
-milled .040
-3angle valve job
-port n polish
-delta 272 full race cam
-dual titanium valve springs
-ferrerea valves
-1mm oversize titanium valves
-AEM adjustable cam gear
-Vemon intake mani port matched to head
-JG 66mm throttle body
D16A6 Block
-Edyne sleeves (oem bore)
-micorpolished n balanced OEM crank
-SRP 9.1:1 comp pistons (gives me 9.8:1 comp with milled head and stock h/g)
-Crower billet high tech rods
-new oem oil/water pump
Turbo Setup
-custom full race equal length manifold
-presicion sc61 w/ gt35 compressor wheel (.63/.76) BIG!
-3" downpipe, side exit 3" exhaust
-Tial 38mm wategate
-HKS SSQ Bov
-2.5" charge piping
-30 X 7 X 3 HKS Intercooler
-MSD digital 6 ignition
Going to run it with TurboEdit if I feel like learning it, Ive got a wideband already and a laptop on the way.
If you guys want a full run down on my setup I can write it all up. As of now Ive only got 450cc's for injectors but obviouly that wont cut it anymore. How big should I be looking for?
Heres the kicker, the car is DAILY DRIVEN!!!
Im mostly a higway **** kind of guy but still like to launch form stoplights and dont want to hit full boost for the first time in third @7500
Ill have a zex dry kit if I need it, but wouldnt mind selling it to upgrade some things, but ----, if it helps spool time with a 65 shot or whatever then Im down for it but dont wanna use it all the time.
LMK guys, have a few months before I even want to have the motor in the car to break it in all motor and make sure everythingis cool first.
Thanks

So why do the first 2 guys feel it wont be any good?
I personally think my motor can handle it, I dont think I missed a single component in the block/head build, vemon intake mani, 64mm t/b, will most likely have an equal length manifold
But like I said, the compression will be higher than stock and will have a small shot of nitrous to get ---- kickin
I was looking for a straight sc34 but found this for the same price I was willing to pay for the SC34, to me seems like its bigger than the factory trim SC61 with the things the guy has done to it
All in the name of speed

Here is a short vid of the spool up on my 9:1 B16 in 3rd gear.
http://host90.ipowerweb.com/~draglab...Lagmonster.wmv
As you can see I get about 7psi by 5500ish and dont hit my full 13-14psi till 6300-6400.
Im on a LS tranny, and I used to fall out of boost pretty bad on the 2-3 shift. I have since put in some portflow valve springs, and rev it to 9000 in second. I no longer get any boost drop on the 2-3 shift.
I remember seeing a thread on HT, where a guy claimed he was getting full >10psi by 5500ish on his D.

I suppose if you have a nice size DP/Exhaust and can rev it a bit high it will be a fast freeway machine. Around town, its going to suck ***** and be no fun though. My old 63/60 T3 was much more fun to drive, as it had fast spool up and a strong midrange.
Either way, it will be fast in a ***** out freeway race. Good luck.
Get yourself an agressive cam, get the valve train ready for some serious R's and you maybe able to spool that sc61. Dave's stock B16 with all ITR ---- is pretty laggy but managable. I dont think I'd rock a turbo that big if it wasnt ball bearing on a d-series. The SC34 or SC50 would have probably been a better route.

i have a nissan t3 .63/.60 and full boost in 2nd gear comes in at 4800rpms even if i start slow in 2nd. stock compression though. that turbo rocks. oh ina 99si b16 ya biatch
I aded my setup (or what I have already) in the first post
I really would like this car to be a good daily driver and still have some ***** from a dig, dont want to always have to run from a roll
Ill have no problem selling this thing again for the $500 I paid, but I just dont know what to do.
I also dont know much about turboedit, can I raise my rev limiter, because Im sure with my mods Ill be making power past 6800
THanks guys
