Default MIG welding, PCV system

Hey, I've got a couple of questions. first of all I want to set up my pcv system witht he catch can and all, but I don't know where on the intake manifold the hoses are. Could someone post up real pics? not ms paint sketches?

Second, I'm looking to get a MIG welder from harbor freight sometime soon. What's the minimum amount of power I want for exhaust, intercooler piping, and other stuff of that degree?

Thanks

First of all I am no expert but I weld quite a lot at home. Learn from my mistakes. I wouldn't suggest getting one of those Chicago electric deals but if it's just for occasional use it should be great. I know you said "MIG" but make sure you get a mig and not just flux core. The wire for welding thin stuff only comes in mig wire. My buddy has the 87 amp 115v welder they have and it works great for "light" duty. If you have the money get the Hobart 135. I have that and a portable Readywelder. The welds are cleaner with the Hobart than the 87amp HF model but if you aren't using it a lot then it won't matter. The biggest drawback is that the Hobart 135 will weld thicker metal. 1/8" max for the 87 amp IMHO.

The PCV valve is right in between the intake manifold runners. The line is bigger diameter than the rest of the vac lines. It's the only hooked up line in this pic.

-edit- better pic

Out of the bottom of the valve is a line that runs to the "black box" on the back of the block. It's an oil collector. If you're not running the PCV to the intake manifold, you really don't need the pcv valve at all. Just run the line to the catch-can from the black box.

The other part of the PCV system is the valve cover breather. You can run a line to the catchcan, or just put a little breather filter on it.

Here's a link with more than you ever wanted to know about the PCV system

don't waste $200 on a POS welder.

Comes with the regulator and gas lines, everything you need to weld with gas, besides the gas cylander.
