This question is pertaining to the T's and Elbows for a custom manifold. I'm aware of Cast and Stainless, but which is better to use? I thought stainless cracks easier than cast? Which method of welding is better for welding these to the flange?
What size of T's and Elbows do you use for a B18?
Will 3/8" flange to motor be OK? I have 1/2" for the turbo flange.

Actually I have been reading the forums for a while now. I did read the topics on this. It does not cleary state which material is better for this.
I hate to ask stupid questions!
For one I didn't think they were stupid!

Which material withstands heat better? Cast or Stainless?

To qualify the "stainless" answer. If you use elbows that has been anealed Like 304 stainless u-bends are - mild steel would be better. - if you can find cast stainless elbows or formed elbows in 304 or 304l (tubular stainless is lighter and less brittle ) that is stronger than the mild steel and transfers less heat to the engine compartment. 321 stainless is the best and strongest all around. - mild steel is the safest all around- -and is a lot less expensive and you can ceramic coat it to help with heat transfer .

Now... I would be interested to know what thickness should the wall of those 304 pipes be? 14g, 15g, 16g ??

most people recomend schedule 40, which in a 1.5" diameter pipe has a wall thickness of .145"... i dont know how that equates to guage

if you want to save money you can use schedule 10 that has a wall thickness of .109" not quite as strong, but should be good enough..
