Nothing's wrong with it - that's how I did it too.
There's a local plumbing supply house here in Little Rock (Allied Supply)that stocks the T's and elbows - 2 T's, 2 elbows and a 12" length of straight pipe was $30. This, plus the head and turbo flanges should be all you need. Oh, and a mig (or arc) welder.

 

i might take it to a friend that lives a bit away but he has a tig welder so i dont know we will see when the time comes...

BTW... I got my elbows from a local plumbing supply store for a quarter of what mcmaster charge, try local before you order, you'll save on shipping too.

but are they stainless steel? I tried all the local plumbing shops and only found mild steel.

if you get stainless steel, don't you have to get stainless steel head and turbo flanges? I made mine for my t25 out of mild steel weld els, x2 T's and x2 90* elbows $35, BMC racing head flange $29, and turbo flange $10 (local machine shop). I used a 220 welder, and I ended up warping my head flange and had to take it to a machine shop and had then resurfice it. If your planning on keeping your A/C, and even if your not, its a good thing to only make the log part of the MF before you cut the hole for the turbo, so you know exactly how the turbo will set in there, you don't want it hitting your block or any of that crap. If I were you, make your own, don't buy a HF mani, its much more impressive when you tell everyone that you made it yourself. I made mine on a cardboard template to make sure I got all the T's and elbows cut just right.

 

No you can weld mild steel to stainless steel just fine. And next time you make a manifold bolt it to a old/spare cylinder head or a large flat piece of steel so it doesnt warp when you weld it.

 

i dont plan on using an hf manifold ever...

they are restrictive as ---- might as well use straws for my exhuast...

anyways i have my old d16a6 head that im going to use for mockups and i wont have any problem with mounting it and that ----

and there is no AC on my 91 crx si zc. lol it steals powah from the motah.

lol just a random thing...did you know that the srt-4 will up the boost 3psi if you turn the AC onto the extreme cold? so it adds 3psi to make up for the AC stealing power...the AC only robs like 5-10hp maybe and it adds like 30hp w/ the extra psi...
