a little overboard?
well i just returned from a local auto swap meet. i purchased a schwitzer turbo for $20.00. this thing is huge. its compressor housing is 11in in diameter, so im guessing it came off a big diesel. this thing is perfect, no shaft play, no cracks, no oil residue in the compressor housing so im guessin the seals are good. I think im gonna use it on an aluminum block v8 i have sittin around. i was gonna supercharge it but after pickin this thing up for so cheap i tink im gonna go with the turbo. has anyone ever seen a turbo like this used before? do you think it will work? I wanna put it in a 32 ford coupe, so if it works it will be stickin out the side of the car, which would look wicked. any way thanx for any help you might have.
We are doing a similar project on a small block 350, (diesal turbo). Hopefully it will turn out ok, the turbo is just a freaking monster.
Remember these turbos are not designed for high reving hp apps, so the trims of the turbos are designed to flow high cfm's at lower rpms
