If you drive it sensibly and have a good tune on it, the motor will last. If you do stupid ---- like 4th gear pulls and un tuned, then don't expect it to last.

---- you, i do it almost everyday comming home from work on the off ramp. holding fine for me.

ooo...and i hold a solid 5psi untuned. tuned, i will raise it to 10-12 with no worries. bbka daily drives his stock boosted sohc, i think 12psi, and no problems what so ever. its all in how you build it.
That doesn't mean it will work for everyone. Your rude and stupid comment doesn't help answer the question. Tuning IS very important, and high-load high-boost driving is not good for longevity - both points being related to the question asked. Regardless of what you personally do to your car, your post, in general, is ridiculous.

Hey bud. I am running the same ---- as you. Just to clear it up, Z6 on 10psi for how ever long. It is my daily driver and handles trips 2 hours to my house every weekend. It holds just fine with a good tune. But it isn't smart to do that ---- on an untuned map. How many motors go up because dumb *** people do 4th gear pulls or try to max their car out untuned. I am not saying it happens everytime.

It is rediculous of the ammount of ignorance.

so far, on my base map, i have made 2 trips, both not under 70mph either way. "racing" from 70mph rolls...bacially, i beat the living **** out of my car anywhere I go. I love my turbo on the highway! its alot of fun. although, im still only at a SOLID 5psi, but when i finally get the spring/chain WG fixed, it still wont scare me to drive the way I do. I only have 30 more days with my car, so im gonna make the best of it. and about the ignorance part...i am telling nothing but the truth. call it ignorance if you want to, but its the truth, so...take it for what you will. ooohh yeah, someone mentioned something about maxing out there car in 4th gear, the other day on my second trip i had the perfect oppertunity to max out my car, maxed out every gear, once i was in 5th gear, the car wouldnt go past 5000 rpm's. thats with the speed limiter disabled. i drive my car the way i want to...havent had to many problems with it yet. the jb welded hole in the block is still holding also, incase if anyone cares.

whats your point? the point of this thread was "can i boost my 120,000 mile motor" and i simply stated, yes, you can. and told my story.

My point is was you referenced bbka's motor as an example and stated its all about how its built. He ARP studded his head so he can boost 10-12 PSI. It was just a heads up cuz most suggest the ARP head studding on high boost.
That is all
