i checked the head and block with a straight edge and feeler guage. there both flat. sleeves are level with teh block. dont have any power loss, runs great, great compression. i just dont get it.

 

its obiously the stellar intergalactic discombobulator forcing coolant through. by the way, do you spray your hg with that copper hg spray crap? can you see on either surface of the head or block where it may have been leaking through? is there a lot of coolant in the oil or just a little??

How are you using a straight-edge on a block/head with the head/block installed or are you removing them and not telling us?

It doesn't even have to be warped to leak. Some detonation blowing the HG out and there ya have it.

 

A straight edge isn't the best way of telling. You should probably use a dial indicator to tell if the block and or head is flat. Maybe try a multi layer, or a thicker HG?

 

I checked a head with a straith edge once, and we did the sander type resurfacing and found the head was FUCKED UP. There was less than a .0025 inch gap at one point measured with the feeler guage, but once we sanded it it took a -----ton to get it straight. Just resurface the head and try it.

 

sanding its definatly not the way to do it, but whatever saves you money i guess

 

I was in a different town visiting my parents and the guy had a decent rep. It actually looks good, but I normally wouldn't sand a head, just proving a point. I had no other option.
