Default Junk yard dsm or other turbo car muffler? Are they usable?

Are turbo mufflers made different than N/A mufflers? If so would it be worth going to the bone yard and picking one of these up? I'm currently redoing my exhaust to 2" and minus the cat and resinator.

I don't know a direct answer to your question but I do know that turbocharged cars exhaust is MUCH quieter than a n/a car. My exhaust used to be super loud and now it's just a slight presence since i've turbocharged. I suggest 2 1/4" at least, a resonator, and a straight through muffler. You can even use a glasspack or two, but they can be had for cheap.

Good luck!

the turbo itself quiets it down alot, the muffler isn't any different. sometimes it's larger then an N/A car though, why do you want a used muffler from a junkyard? I have an old fart can i'll sell you for $20 plus shipping if you want.

I got a fart can right now on my old exhaust. Currently I'm running open down pipe and that ---- stinks and its to loud! I was just wondering if the muffer type made a difference.

Like I said above, any old fart can will work perfect. Turbo is quiet as it is, so just use any old straight through muffler. It'll be plenty quiet no matter how loud it is on a n/a car. Have faith!

good luck!

use a muffler with offset in/out, you will not be able to hear a thing. summit sells em for like 15 bucks. 3" full exhaust on a turbo ls setup in a civic with that muffler is comparable to little over stock.

i think just the inlet/outlet diameter of "turbo" mufflers are bigger.

---- a muffler. thanks to my leaking head/block seal water goes out the tail pipe and rusted my muffler to it fell off. I like the "muscle" sound I have now, makes me want to go get mopar stickers.
