Default Issue with 14b wastegate flapper not closing

So on these 14b's ive got an open dumptube and immediately realized that out of boost the flapper isnt closing all the way.

Someone told me it was common and you just had to hammer it shut, which did not work.

So I shimmed it back with two washers under each mount bolt hole, that worked. BUT....

...now I have a spiking issue. When I first get on it, it spikes up to about 9psi and then bleeds back to 7psi and holds solid. I really want to sort this out before I put the boost controller on, I don't want to be spiking to 12-13psi and bleeding off to 10psi.

Any ideas? The WG signal is still just off the compressor, think it'd help to move it to the intake manifold and just leave my shims in?

When you take the wastegate off, does it close by itself nicely? Did you clock the turbo?

is the wastegate arm binding. if so, maybe you can drill a new hole and reposition it. 1 bolt will still be ok.

yes and very slightly.

i fixed the gate today, had to bend the actuator bracket away from the flapper a bit more. works great now.

common problem w/ t25 and 14b's and similar.... the flapper will work itself away from the hole.... from the outside of the casting... if u see white from the porcelin insert, smack it down till the flapper covers the hole completely.

word to the wise.... inspect the turbo thuroughly

and yes, i know **** said that his problem was fixed, but this is just something for other ppl to look for.
