Default intercooler piping

I have an 85 celica gt-s and i have a question about piping from the turbo to the throttle body. In most toyotas there are these stupid afm boxes. I was wondering if i run my intercooler piping through the afm or do i move the afm to the turbo intake. I dont know because i thought the purpose of the afm box is to tell how much air is going into the intake so i would think to run it through the intercooler piping. When i was reading corky bell's maximum boost the diagram looked like it was on the turbo intake. Has anyone ever done a turbocharged system on a toyota with this afm box?
