Default intake length effects?

a buddy of mine has a boosted parejo 4x4. he loves the look of the offroad snorkles, you know, the ones that have a tube that extends to the roof. so we were gonna make one that goes from snorkle to air box to turbo etc (basically extending his intake about 3 ft). we are gonna do it anyways but this made me think about intakes and performance in general. i heard that extending intake length in an NA car usually causes decreased performance b/c the engine has to work harder to suck in the same amount of air. But in his case it wouldnt matter since its forced induction any way right? if anything, wouldnt it increase performance (MPG) as it is my understanding that the added length of the intake helps to keep the turbo spooled from when you let off the pedal to when you depress it again and helps to force that air towards the turbo, instead of reversing the flow through the air filter, and causing less flow stagnation than from a shorter intake. more stagnation would hurt gas mileage due to the turbo having to work harder to start compressing from a lower inlet pressure. Of course, I could be wrong and thid is just adding restriction. sorry if its confusing, just wondering what the effects are of varying pre-turbo intake lengths. thanks in advance

PRE turbo intakes (compressor intake) dont do ----, if its not restrictive it wont change your rpm range. Your thinking of turbo to throttlebody charge pipes. Na is air filter to throttlebody somewhat. Intake design (runner lenth) has the most to do with rpm range.

If he's going to do off-roading keep the snorkel, if not disconnect it from the turbo. 3ft of intake hurts performance either NA or FI.
