Default difference effects in hp on all motor and turbo, why?

if i had a 93 hatchback with gsr with some upgraded parts and it had 200 whp
compare to a
93 hatchback with a gsr with turbo and it had 200 whp

should i have around the same time with same driver/clutch? if not, how come its different even tho the hp are around the same? I know it mite be a stupid question but yea i dont realli understand...people say all motor cars with equal amount of hp and tq as turbo cars are faster..can someone clarify

Simple.

Your FI cars are "all motor" until the boost kicks in. During that short RPM range they are suffering with their base spec of 140 HP (or whatever), and even some restriction on that from the turbocharger exhaust setup.

All motor usually has that bottom end advantage that the turbo lacks. Does this make sense?

Yeah, well VTEC messes up my entire theory either way.. hope I gave you a little bit of insight.

HP numbers are only PEAK numbers. Just because you make 200 HP doesn't mean as soon as you touch that gas you are putting out 200, all that means is that some point in your powerband you make it up to 200. So, you could be making a PEAK of 200 WHP at 6500 RPM, but have an *** bag of a laggy car that can be pulled by pinto's before boost.

Numbers don't really mean ----. Look at the dyno graph, more importantly the torque curve. Usually with a tubo, you get a sudden jump in the tq. curve when it kicks. On most all motor apps i've seen, the tq. curve is friggin pancake flat, which is what you want. The key is having the most tq. you can have for as long as you can in the powerband, not just gobs of power for the last 1000 RPM. If you run at a constant 10 MPH, and some other guy walks at 1 MPH, then sprints at 15 MPH for 2 seconds, who's gonna make the quarter mile first?

Actually in most cases a properly setup 200hp turbo car is far quicker than the equivalent 200hp NA. Reason being that the turbo car should have more torque available.

An extreme example. 320bhp rally car with restrictor plate. Makes 540ft/lb of torque. But it's only 320bhp right? Well it's about 300hp at 3000 rpm. 320hp at 5000 RPM as well.
