Default I'm boosted

Well i'm kind of new around here still, and today i finally boosted my car. It took me and my friend 2 wrenches to the face, 4 busted knuckles, 2 beers, 2 days, and 14 hours, but we did it. It came out nice and i might have pics tomorrow. My only question is i have a tial wastegate that's set at .4 bar, and i was under the impression that .4 bar is roughly 5.8 psi, but i couldn't boost over 4.8 psi, so i'm assuming i caluclated wrong. Little help? i hate bar readings.

yeah maybe i have a leak in one of my vac lines because my charge pipes should be on there good. But .4 bar is supposed to be 5.8 psi correct? I just thought it was kind of strange that it stopped boosting at the exact same pressure each time

where are you getting your vac source? if you're getting it before the turbo, you will see some pressure drop. .4 bar is 5.8 psi

yeah it depends on where you have your wastegate vacuum line hooked up.

there's a bung comming right off the compressor and i used a t-fitting to hook up the wastegate and the BOV to it.

That is the issue. It's fine for your BOV, but for your waste gate I would move it. It's good if you want to run that PSI, but you're pressure is dropping throught he intercooler. If you hook your wastegate up to a line right off the intake manifold, you'll fore sure see a bit more boost.

If you nab a cheapass short ram intake from ebay and use it as your upper charge pipe, you can tap into the PCV outlet.

wow... i'm impressed it only took 2 beers for a turbo install. Isn't a half-rack the minimum requirement?

that doesn't sound right, the BOV will not get vacuum until the throttle plate opens under low throttle. The BOV needs to be hooked up downstream of the throttle body, somewhere on the intake.
