Default IHI exhaust turbines...

i've been wondering... how much difference is there between the probe IHI, 1.8 subaru IHI and the turbocoupe IHI's turbine wheels... i know the housings are all different but what about the wheel itself?

thanks

Well, the T-Bird IHI uses a completey different hot side, it has a standard T3 flange instead of the square flange like the probe. But I think the turbine is the same size.

But I do know that the compressor of the T-bird is a nice up grade to the probe. I've seen some IHI powered T-bird get 250-300hp.

ya i know the housings are completly different... and the compressor wheels are different... the probe compressor isn't good for much more then 6psi... the turbocoupe compressor map looks much more like the 60 trim t3 (friend found a hard copy of the map)

just wondering about the turbine wheels them selves is all

thanks

How early a turbo spools doesn't have much to do with the cmopressor...it's the turbine that matters how quick. I think the turbo coupe is a .48 a/r on the turbine side...BTW, here is a killer resouce for compressor maps.

not all of them work, but there is alot of info here...

the probe compressor isnt good for more than 6 psi? Is this the same as a 626 compressor? I am running one at 10 psi and the car moves decentley. I know a t3 or 14b is better but the probe turbo cant be that bad can it?

yes the turbine looks similar to the 60 trim t3.. but the exhaust is much more restrictive... it'll spool quicker but it creates greater backpressure which ultamatly kills the ultamate power pottential... it's similar to an NA engine w/ a stock exhaust vs a nicely built exhaust w/ a headder and mandrel bent exhust system

anyway back the subject... maybe i'll just wait till i have both the scoobie and turbocoupe turbos in my hand... then it's pic time
