Default I read oil line topic, Q about sandwich adapters & HMT oil pan

I read the oil line topic, and there is a post in there about the sandwich adapters in there, but no definate answer. Is this a god idea to use a sandwich adapter for oil feed/return? My only concern is that ALL the engines oil passes through this adapter before it hits the filter, so the oil flow/pressure would be too great for the turbo. If I ran a restrctor, then Id be restricting the oil flow to the whole engine (right?) Im not sure on this, but I would like to know how to run my oil lines, If I should just buy the sealthmode kit or try this instead. I dont know if i like the idea of oil backing up into my turbo from the oil level in the pan but then agian im not sure how far the level actually sits in the pan while running (d16a6).

My other thought was to make a HMT style "Moroso" oil pan. Take the stock pan, cut it up a little, make a rear kick out for it, extend the pickup tube to the rear, and add some sort of windage tray. Anyone make a HMT oil pan, or thought of this? I need to know what Im going to do about my oiling before I start to tear into my car to assemble everything on it. Thanks.

I am considering using the sandwich plate for oil feed, but return I am planning to just route it to the sump. The reason is from what I have gathered the return line should be down fall at all time. Hence if you route it to the sandwhich plate then I think it has a long way to travel and not nesscessary all down hill.

I currently have a B16A2 running the sandwhich plate which I take off the oil temp and oil pressure. Oil pressure reads 5kg/cm ^2 when it is cold. (1 kg/cm ^2 = approx 14.x PSi) Then when the car gets warmed up the pressure drops to around 2-3 kg/cm^2 so I think it is at the border line in term of the oil pressure and needing restrictor... Correct me if I am wrong but I think I read it somewhere about 75psi or above will need restrictor?

If you end up using a restrictor in conjunction with the sandwhich plate, I don't see why the restrictor will restrict the oil going to your engine. As the oil feed comes out of the plate to the restrictor then to the turbo. So only the turbo should have the restricted feed of oil.

So the sandwich adapters dont route all the engine oil through it? I thought they did and thats whey they are used for oil cooler setups, because it cools all of the oil. I guess Im wrong, unless anyone else has anything else to say? Thanks for the response.

There are 2 types of oil plates, a lot of people have mistaken between the 2.

First type it is just like a spacer between the block and the filter, of course there is some holes tapped for linking up sensors or used as oil feed there is no hose connections for coolers.

Second type identical to the first ones, apart from it is directional in terms of oil flow, it has connection points for hose to hook up the oil cooler.

You only need the First type if you are only needing it to hook up sensors or oil supply, however if you want to link up cooler then you need the second type.

Even if you use the second type I described, even if you are using a restrictor it is not going to restrict oil going to your engine. As you link up a hose to the pre drill port then to your restrictor then into turbo.... so only the turbo will get the restricted oil feed not the engine.

I guess this post is really old but I have a question regarding the oil sandwich adapter.. hope someone will read and reply didn't want to look like a dick starting a new thread when one already exist.

Okay to the question - if I use the oil sandwich adapter, can I don't remove the stock oil pressure sensor in the block or must I unhook the oil sensor off the block and hook it to the oil sandwich adapter together with my oil feed lines?

Please advise.. I know this sounds stupid, but I just need to know

Cheers

I be nice.
Take off oil filter put on oil plate put the filter back on install necessary fittings and your done you don't have to touch the sending unit.

sorry, let out one important factor.. I'm asking this in regards to feeding the oil pressure for my turbocharger... If im able to use this oild sandwich to tap the oil pressure for my turbo instead of using the stock oil pressure sensor.. it would be soo much easier.

and thanks for being nice

We offer a fitting that installs between your stock sensor and the block, and provide you with two ports for oil feed to the turbo. Check it out here - http://tunertoys.zoovy.com/product/O...al_Outlet.html

The pictar...

We've probably sold a couple thousand of these over the past five years. Word.

Yes you can use a oil sandwich adapter for that.

The Bad part about sandwich plates is they use pre filtered oil (I think) to send to the turbo where the Tuner Toys fitting at the sending unit is filtered.
I recommend using a TT fitting over a sandwich adapter unless your running more then just a turbo oil inlet line.
And even then you can use stealthmode oil line firewall kit. Plus it saves you like 20 dollhairs.

I use a sandwich plate for mine. It is pre filtered oil. If my sending unit was more accessible I would have gone that route. I suggest doing that. Simple to put a T on your sending unit. After the sandwich plate mine goes to a T with my aftermarket oil pressure gauge sending unit, then to a needle valve (restrictor) then to the turbo. My turbo is mounted low and in the rear so I use a scavenge pump after the turbo and drain the oil into the passenger side valve cover. Sandwich plate is really simple so if that's what you prefer, go for it.
