i would just sell the gs and buy a turbo eclipse. you will have to spend less money on it and it can be very quick with not too much money put in it.

if you're so enthusiastic - search and figure out how to turbo your car.

Boosting a 420a is well, gay. It even rhymes, so 420=Gay. Now the 4G63 isn't really that great of a motor efficiency wise, but the one thing is that it's strong. Strong is good when you're a noob because you can make mistakes and the motor will forgive you and not spit destroyed rod and other lower end parts out your oil pan or even block. Also, since the car is already turbo the electronics are much easier to deal with and lie to than a non-turbo car. Since you said you don't want to spend $3k that means no standalone and completely built for boost motor, so you'll have to go with hack *** tuning methods and rig a bunch of ---- because you'll obviously be doing the work yourself.

If you do get a turbo on there and boosting you'll only be able to run 5-8psi safely on that 420a block. It's the same motor that came in a Neon which I'm sure you're aware of. Needless to say the Neon wasn't designed with performance in mind. It was built for fuel economy and a low sticker price. The rods in a 420a look like Geo Metro rods and if I'm not mistaken have aluminum open decked blocks. If you even fart too much air into that motor it's going to self destruct. If you even knock 0.5397 counts you'll still have issues very quickly, and since you won't have good tuning it's pretty much gauranteed you'll knock. Bottom line is that the most power you're going to make safely on a budget will right around 200hp. FYI a stock turbo DSM males 210hp. You're throwing your money away on a project that's doomed from the start. The 420a is a heap of ---- motor and isn't good, even remotely, in any category except fuel consumption.

I'm not saying it to be a dick; I just figured someone should tell you so if you still insist on throwing money at it at least you'll be aware that you're wasting it. I suppose if speed isn't your top priority then sure I guess you could make a ricer mobile out of it, but that's terrible IMO. Just like the other guy said, sell it to a chick or something and get yourself into a 1G or 2G turbo DSM. With $50 (boost gauge, mbc) you can safely run 15psi on bone stock fuel support and make right around 220-240whp. That's pretty damn potent for a stock car. Your turbo car will respond to mods way better than a non-turbo. You get the idea. Buy a bone stock DSM and take your time learning and researching about what steps you need to meet your goals. If you keep the Neon you will only be disappointed. Good luck whatever you decide to do, but definitely think about it first and make an educated decision. Peace.

dont waste time just buy a tsi, gst, gsx whatever. if its turbo you should buy that.
in the long run it'll be way better. then upgrade that. GS is garbage. my stock corolla

They're right, it's more cost effective to sell it and buy a similar year gst than to boost the gs.

Ahaha sorry I know everybody hates a long winded poster. I do type fast as hell, but I'll make sure to keep the posts shorter. People just skip over them anyway if they're long. I just wanted him to know that a 420a is one of the worst motors around to boost and doing so is a direct sign of absolute noobness and retardation.
