recently i've done turbo on my b16a. it's holset with external WG from AUDI 5000. 460cc for now (latelly i will ADD 740cc injectors with ITBs =)). Theris no intercooler for now. I plan to make custom water2air intercooler. i already got evaporator core from some hyndai for that. rightnow i boost it something around 0.6-0.8 bar. BTW, why i am getting white steam from PVC pipe (but i am getting nothing from valve cover)?

audi wastegate! awesome... i would brace the wg flange back to the manifold though. that thing is pretty heavy and will most likely crack the weld at the manifold over time. Nice setup though

to make your own water to air, you should weld 2 dsm cores together and reverse the directions of flow (i.e. pressurized air blows in where cooling air would usually blow through, and water flows through the cores where conventional boost would go.) water to air coolers are really only for drag cars though, by the time the pump circulates the cooling fluid to the intercooler rad, your boost run is most likely over and was done on warm water. But props for being different.

 

btw. i've read a lot that those turbos are very loud. but i dont hear any sounds from a turbo. only a opendump wastegate... =( also i am not getting pshhhh from my blow-of. may be that because of short piping without intercooler? iam boosting only 0.6-0.8 bar

 

you should definately hear the turbo (especially one that big) spooling like crazy. My car sounds like a mac truck on the highway. What bov are you running?

as far as the smoke from only the pcv... If you have a filter on your valve cover, that may mask the smoke coming from it. Mine smokes from the pcv tube, but i just aimed it at the ground so i didnt have to look at it. If you ever find out that its something bad, pm me
