I'm going to the junkyard soon, and I need to find out what diesel trucks had the Holset HY35W on it. I tried searching, but found nothing. Does anyone know what I should be looking for? What model trucks? (maybe dodge?) And what model years?

Any info would be great. Thanks.

I cant help you with a map, but I know they are still pretty laggy on ford 2.3 fours if that helps you at all.

 

i've been watching them on ebay for quite some time now. theres an hx35 in pretty mint condition going for 375, if i didnt have to buy my internals i would be all up on that ----

 

Well, I think I may have found an HX35W (I think?). Even though its bigger than the HY35, I just going to use it since it only cost me $50. I'll try to get some pictures up and maybe someone can confirm my find.

OK I didn't make this, somebody on a DSM forum did, but this is the info he gave, apparently they're speaking about model years for the dodge cummins engines they came on.

Blue line is boost pressure at 20 psi (pressure ratio calculated from that), with cfm plotted from 500 to 8000 rpm. Pre-2003 HX-35 in Green. 2003 - 2004.5 HY-35 in Black. 2004.5 - Present HY-35 in Red. This is for 2.0L of displacment.

So 2003 - 2004.5 Dodge Ram Turbodiesel would have the bigger HY35 and anything newer would have a smaller one. Good luck finding that at a junkyard though....gonna be tough.

 

The newest HO model dodge cummin have the biggest of the hy35w(actually called an he351 but looks exactly the same)
On my 2.3ford the first model of hy35w would start spooling around 2800rpm and full boost was in by 3700rpm. this was with the 9cm turbine housing. And I am pretty sire the models after the firdst version had 10cm turbine housing.

I got this compressor map for my turbo from a friend that works at Cummins
