I have a 84 dodge half ton with a stock 318cid 2brrl carb compression is approx 8.4:1 the compression should be perfect for this however the fact that its carbureted could make it a challenge any ideas?

Nope...
You need to build a ""blow through "" carb , or Buy one... Demon makes them as small as a 650. Lots of hot rodders blow through carbs.
i built 2 Rochesters for my corvair. Re0inforced the floats , blocked off air bleeds and used a maserati Bi turbo RRFPR.
